If only Filipinos have a capitalist mentality....
Capitalist or any mentality will not be solution...
as along as we don't work together as a nation..with one goal we have a chance to progress
but as of this current state of our nation..working together with only be dream
@kolz: GMA said in an interview on air that it is precisely because of the growth rate that the price increase of gas hasn't been that high despite world market price increases in oil/barrel

a 'capitalist mentality' in an arguably semi-colonial set-up such as we have, precludes an ideal of 'prosperity' with the widening of the income margins as a by-product, best expressed by the 'rich gets richer, poor gets poorer' observation. this unfortunate by-product of capitalism is something that is systematically ingrained in it and it runs hand-in-hand with the so called 'progress' that this economic ideology boasts. and it is the same phenomena that ideologues of who endorse it tries to find a solution against, but fail every time.

the top 20% of the population, more or less, holds more than half of the country's wealth, a very inequitable distribution of wealth. unless you belong to that top 20%, your hopes of actually and substantially feeling the effects of any economic growth are but pipe dreams.
and to think that this supposed 'growth' that we are experiencing now is unsustainable since it's largely a product of election spending...
What we call chaos is just patterns we haven't recognized. What we call random is just patterns we cant decipher. What we can't understand we call nonsense. What we can't read we call gibberish. - Chuck Palahniuk
@gareb: you're right, am not likely to feel the effect anytime soon since am not in the top 20% by a long margin...
taya muna ako ng lotto... baka sakaling ma-feel ko na at last ang positive effects ng growth rate(yup, temporarily brought about by election spending)
