a 'capitalist mentality' in an arguably semi-colonial set-up such as we have, precludes an ideal of 'prosperity' with the widening of the income margins as a by-product, best expressed by the 'rich gets richer, poor gets poorer' observation. this unfortunate by-product of capitalism is something that is systematically ingrained in it and it runs hand-in-hand with the so called 'progress' that this economic ideology boasts. and it is the same phenomena that ideologues of who endorse it tries to find a solution against, but fail every time.

the top 20% of the population, more or less, holds more than half of the country's wealth, a very inequitable distribution of wealth. unless you belong to that top 20%, your hopes of actually and substantially feeling the effects of any economic growth are but pipe dreams.

and to think that this supposed 'growth' that we are experiencing now is unsustainable since it's largely a product of election spending...

@gareb: you're right, am not likely to feel the effect anytime soon since am not in the top 20% by a long margin...
