i read that the hd2900xt is now beating the 8800gts's with the new drivers. It constantly beats the 320mb version and is on par or better than the 640mb version. But the GTX still is more superior.

8900GTX and 8700GTS will be coming too. HIS has created a HD2900PRO.

yup, thats true... 2900xt is better that the 320mb and 640mb... but in some cases, pildi ang 2900xt at higher resolutions and anti-aliasing because of lesser ROP (only 16) compared to nvidia's 24...

Agree...ATi needs driver updates, late man sila nagpagawas... but to be able to compare it to 8800GTX, it will still need more time.

take note that HD2900XT loses some points when AntiAliasing is activated, or max quality is used.
(and oh, we're talking about cards in SLi/XFire)

Yes, ATi HD2900XT has a lot of potential, you know, especially if mapagamay nila ang power consumption, and believe me, HD2900XT is an impressive card, but not as impressive as G80.

The one thing the R600 can put G80 down is HD...G80 is relatively less dominant compared to the superiority of R600.

But in real world gaming, GTS-Ultra have the edge.

    again, i refer you to:

    http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphi...=807&chart=378
(please look at ALL benchmark tests)

And no, I'm not paid by nVidia and neither am I a FANBOI, (I like nVidia's Tesla though).
Just pointing out that 8800GTS in SLi would be better than HD2900XT in XFire.

    PEACE yo!!!
yeah the tom's hardware probably has an older driver for the ATI. It has changed though with the newer catalyst drivers.

yep..old ila driver 7.1 man siguro. 7.9 man ang latest diba? 14%improvement on average for ATi, not bad, not bad...(Theory: 2099.9fps -- 2393.9)

with a few more tweaks, maybe it will raise its points, and nindot unta if mubarato pa ni siya.

Maybe that's a lot to digest, but the bottom line is that R600 is not perfect nor is it a failure. The HD 2900 XT competes well with the 640MB 8800 GTS, though the 8800 GTS 320MB does have a price/performance advantage over both in all but the highest resolutions and AA settings under most current games.

with more updates, HD2900XT would be tough competition.
