8. Why is it that sometimes I cannot connect at all to the Internet?
Temporary loss of your Internet connection can be caused by any of a number of things.
If you experience loss of your Internet connection, we request that you first check your Meridian Subscriber Unit to see if the W-Link is lighted. An unlighted W-Link means that the Meridian signals from our cellsites are not reaching your Subscriber Unit, thus your connection is not functioning properly. In this case, simply give us a call and we can quickly remedy this through simple re-configuration from our end.
If your network has its own proxy server or router, the hardware may require some specialized configuration to receive a Meridian connection. If this happens, please let us know so that we can send over a Meridian engineer to re-configure your equipment and allow you to enjoy your Meridian broadband service.
There may be rare occasions when the international bandwidth providers (also called “first-mile” providers) experience downtime in their service to broadband providers like Meridian. At these times, your Internet connection may not be available. Such instances are unfortunately beyond our control, as our bandwidth to our customers is taken from these providers. However, rest assured that we at Meridian will do all we can from our end to speed up the restoration of the bandwidth provider’s connection, so that your Internet connection will also be restored and you may continue to enjoy your broadband service.
Solar transit outages will also affect your Internet connection. A Solar Transit Outage is a brief disruption of satellite reception that occurs twice a year (in March and September) when the sun lines up directly behind the satellites (from the earth’s point of view). The exact dates of the solar outages change slightly from year to year, with the dates of each Solar Equinox. Each outage occurs for a few minutes each day over a period of only a few days, and at its peak will only last a few minutes on each satellite. Since Meridian is one of the many companies that uses satellite links to provide Internet access, Meridian Internet service may be briefly affected.
^^daghana sad reason ngano naay disconnection oi..hehe![]()
There is no excuse for not being able to connect for a week. I have a good signal, I can ping the gateway just fine, so please do not require us to check our modem everytime we make a freakin call to your customer service hotline (which btw takes forever for you to talk to someone) only to tell us that you already know the problem is on your end. it's just plain annoying.
this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you
