decades ago we were "fastest growing economy next to japan"... now we are "fastest growing economy next to china.".. THE ULTIMATE FRISBEE QUESTION IS... When will we become the NUMBER 1?

Right you are sis. If you try to look at history, kusog man gyud ang atong growth. Ma hamper lang gyud siya with corruption. During Marcos regime kusog ang saka sa Philippines, ni deteriorate pag during the later part could be due to the change in the government brought about by the EDSA revolution, panahon ni Cory, owning to economic and political pressures. Then comes pa gyud kay nag change ang constitution. Ni stable siya pagpanahon na ni Ramos. Ni naug napud panahon ni Erap due again to political and economic pressures brought about by corruption.. Nibalik na pud pag Arroyo, hangtud karon. It's a convoluted process of ups and downs.
All the while the economy is advancing. Corruption just puts pressures and it curbed unleashes potentials for an even higher growth. This is partly economic is nature and hindered by political reasons.

That is the million dollar question.
1. we have more room for growth.. still small gihapon ang percentage growth nato. Its high time we open up our economy so that we can catch up to our neighbors.
2. compare to china they have pila ka $Triilions ila economy ni grow pa fastest in Asia, it would translate na China in a year added 1-3 times maybe of our TOTAL ECONOMY kay wa pa ta nilapas sa $0.5T in to their economy.
I.compare nimo sa atong SEA neighbors mas dako pa siguro na add sa ilang GDP kay dako na daan ang size sa ilang economy.
Di gyud angay i compare ang percentage growth to other countries kay pahumot ra na. Kung seryoso gyud ang current govt then why not hint for economic reform.

Kaon tae pnoy/mar/phil govt! tinood jud na bro salodo q ana
Nganong according to Bandera man tawn.... Mao man nay basehan sa mga economist.. Kung ikaw wla ka sabot maypa tuod mokaon ka ug tae.....
Gi diritso nalang ta ni nila na ang PHL is the Asia's leading economic. Hehehe
more than 40 year old infrastructure, high crime rate, high poverty rate, high electricity rate, traffic, uneasiness of doing business due to red tape and corruption. You call that fastest growing economy? Someone was bragging about investors lining up but in reality all of it was just pledges.
But when were talking about competitiveness there are no distinctions between apples and oranges. The fact of the matter is we are lagging behind, we are losing ground to many ASEAN countries since 2010 because of poor management, and national focus being put somewhere other than global competitiveness. Momentum bah oi. Sure oi. Id rather have an administration tell me the hard facts than prettifying the real situation. In our case our GDP growth rather should have been 10 times the growth rate of China to be even mentioned in the same breath as theirs.
