Thread: Break In

  1. #21

    Hard Break In.
    Ride it hard.

    "On the Street:
    Warm the engine up completely:
    Because of the wind resistance, you don't need to use higher gears like you would on a dyno machine. The main thing is to load the engine by opening the throttle hard in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear.

    The best method is to alternate between short bursts of hard acceleration and deceleration (engine brake)." Pat McGivern

    Just don't over rev the engine

    @harhar
    Very nice videos Sir. Especially the second one which shows the 1/2, 3/4 and full RPM runs.

    Sir STEVEN. As mentioned by harhar, kanang Soft Break In mao na ang manufacturer reccomendation nga 'IndayInday' acceleration and no hard engine braking. Naa cya similarity sa Hard Break In cuz both insist: "Do not stay for long in the same rpm. In both cases (Hard & Soft), you need to vary your rpm. Mao na dili maayo nang long ride on constant speed/rpm.

    Nice kaayo pag ka explain sa Video 2 Sir STEVEN.

    Accelerate Hard but not sudden or jerky (DILI Kalit-Kalit open throttle). It is a fast but smooth opening of the throttle. Then equally hard engine braking. It is done in stages:
    First: full throttle acceleration up to 1/2 of your engine's rpm range. With counterpart engine braking.
    Then: full throttle acceleration up to 2/3 rpm range. Also with engine braking.
    Finally: Full throttle acceleration up to the red line of your engine.

    Balik balika ug watch and Video 2. Tanawa ang iyang tachometer (rpm).
