    Very good idea Godfather!!! Please let me know if you have the draft I have a friend who is in the media that can help us. Your letter would be a very good start. If you will be able to send it today or tomorrow before 12pm, he says he can guarantee that it will come out on Saturday.

    I just hope one of the mods will eventually bump into this thread. For sure they have much to say about this issue and much much better ideas how to go about the campaign . A manifesto perhaps can be signed by members of istorya. I am confident that the support will be outstanding with the mods influence.

    Sorry mga abay nga karon lang ko nakabalik. Busy man gud intawon kaayo. Anyway, here's a draft of the letter. I used most of your initial letter, brownpose, and added a few thoughts. This is a jointly composed letter so anybody is free to add or change the letter. All are invited to share your ideas. Let's get this done and send it to Sunstar and others.

    Ooops, nalimtan ug copy and paste. Heh,heh.

    An Open Letter to All Cebuanos:

    When I was a kid, my dad used to bring us to Opon church on a barge. Back then there were no Mandaue-Mactan bridges. I could still remember how flying fishes glided like bows that came out of nowhere as we crossed our way to Muelle Osmeña. I recall there were rocks, seabrains, corals, jelly fishes, urchins and starfishes so visible even from the deck.

    Unfortunately, you don't see them anymore. Much of the life and beauty below the magnificent channel is lost. If you haven't tried a ferry at Pier 3 or Muelle Osmeña, get yourself a ride and you will know what I'm talking about. The sea is murky. Garbage, animal corpses, plastic cups and other non-biodegrable stuff are all that you’d see. The smell becomes disgusting as you approach or embark Pier 3. Some of the garbage reaches as far as Olango and at the coastlines of many popular resorts.

    Our country is admittedly poor. We are deprived economically already, yet we lay to waste a precious treasure by not caring enough. Couldn’t we at least give our children the chance to appreciate the beauty that is fast fading? Instead of whining about our woeful existence, can’t we work towards making our Cebu truly the best place in the country to live instead?

    It is not difficult to do. All that is needed is to be proud of being a Cebuano. Let’s take care of the province we love. The once pristine beaches can still be revived. The fishes may even return in droves. Let’s clean up our seas and our communities. Demand from government officials that environmental laws are followed by all. Care about Cebu!

    Year after year, our public officials happily count another milestone in tourist visits to Cebu. They want us to compete against Thailand and Malaysia. At the rate we are abusing our environment we do not stand a chance at all. If nature’s beauty is not enough to drive every single Cebuano to keep the province clean, maybe the money we earn from tourists can be incentive enough.

    It's never too late to do a clean up. You only need to tell your friends what's happening. How about it my fellow Cebuanos? Governor Garcia? Mayors Osmena, Cortes, Fernandez and others? Secretary Durano? How about making Cebu the true Numero Uno?

    @Godfather
    Sign me up...by the way, Chris Malazarte of the The Freeman also posted the same message in his column which appeared two saturdays ago. I wonder if anyone here got a copy?

    Also, how do we let our members at istorya signup for this campaign?
