    Default Racing School

    Greetings!

Nag try koh og search sa internet about racing school's diri sa Cebu but wala ko'y makitah so mag ask koh diri.
Does anyone here know if Cebu has any racing school I can enroll? I am really a fan of racing and cars (Mao nag work koh og car company karon just to get near with my favorite (German) brand)

Just like this in Parañaque City
    Tuason Racing

Unfortunately boss, dli ma justified ang racing school diha sa ato, coz for one reason. walay tarong na race track diha sa ato. (dli included ang dakong hawan na parking lot).

#2 reason would be - way kusog2 nga awto dha sa atoa... Kasagarn fwd nga underpowered cars ra (way mga rwd).

#3 no tuning shops / "real" performance shops (i.e. dyno) to tweak setup for tracks

#4 unavailability of aftermarket upgrade parts/companies; usually limited to oem, fake aftermarket (replica) or genuine parts

#5 racing in ph is usually street drag or autocross.

I would suggest you take up karting first as this is the first step in wheel-to-wheel racing. Drop by Kartzone (Panagdait, just behind Jollibee) and inquire about the 2015 Karting season and costs. You can also opt to have an instructor to train you.

I assure you that your driving WILL improve through karting (be it autocross, rally, drag or circuit) as most racers started their careers in karting.

Your timing is also perfect since this year Kartzone is also fielding a new NOVICE grid composing of all first time karters so you all get to compete on equal grounds as the experts will be running in another grid.

Gamay raka makat.onan boss basta dili imong own setup ang awto. Di nimo matweak to your performance settings. Muo gamit ang tuning shops og performance parts etc.

Racing is not just about driving,boss.. Its also knowing about technicalities of your vehicle, and how you can use it to outwit your opponents.

Yes, you got that right. But not because racing school siya, di ranah all about racing it also comes with technicalities. G.tuyo aning mentioned school na sila ang nag provide sa vehicles ka'y kabalo man sila di tanan naa'y vehicle for racing or enough cash for upgrades.

Back to topic. I really hope naa'y mag open ani diri sa Cebu..

If you have the chance try to join an actual karting race by renting a racing kart (not the slow rental karts). The novice category is will be using a 4 stroke Honda 200cc engine, your top speed, which you can acheive after the first corner would be around 70-80kph depending on kart and engine setup.

Karting will also introduce you to the "technicalities" of racing. Kart setup and car setup is very much similar. You can adjust caster / camber / ackerman / track width / ride height / stiffness / etc. Difference is, in gokarts, you will feel a small adjustment instantly (which is good for a novice cause you can experiment and get feedback and learn fast) where-as in a car the suspension sometimes dampens the feel so the learning curve is much steeper.

I'm actually speaking from experience cause before I got into karting I was part of the "bottom runners" (probably bottom 4 or 5 hahaha) in an event such as an autocross. And for 5 years I joined all the autocross events and still wasn't improving fast enough to catch up with even the "regular guys". This all changed when I got into karting... just 1 and 1/2 years into karting, with the help of my mentors, I learned a whole lot of driving techniques and setup techniques that I directly apply when I'm autocrossing. Happy to say I'm part of the "regular guys" now hahahahaha

One plus you get from karting is also the skill in passing/overtaking which you don't get in an autocross event. So if you plan to transition into circuit racing it won't be hard na since you already got experience in wheel to wheel racing.

But if you really prefer cars, Kartzone also offers autocross clinics where you can run the track (timed course) with an instructor and learn how to control your car. But of course, this is a "provide your own car" type of event.

Oh yes. I have the budget and time, I would really join a karting race. I just don't have the time going to kartzone during the weekdays for event updates. DO you have any source online for their upcoming events or their own website?
That's cool you already have a lot of experience in karting. In my situation right now, I might have to stick to karting due to budget constraints.
