I was called for an initial interview over the phone on Christmas Day. Since there were alot of things going on that day, I told him we can schedule an interview for tomorrow. Interviewer number: 0942 499 1655
Dec 26, I texted him: Good Morning sir, I didn't get any text message confirmation for an interview later?
He replied: I am not feeling so great today. Maybe this afternoon I'll call you.
I replied: We can schedule for an interview tomorrow if you're feeling better already as I will be busy this afternoon with more family gatherings.
He replied: Ok thanks
Dec 27, at 8AM He texted: Good am. Are you available available for an interview this morning? Around 9am?
I replied: Sorry, I thought interviews are scheduled a day ahead, not an hour ahead. No I wouldn't be available in 30 mins (as I woke up at 8:30am, if I hadn't I wouldn't have been able to respond)
Since I didn't want to sound rude and unprofessional, I sent in another text: If it's possible to reschedule for Tuesday afternoon, I would be available by then
He replied: Are you really looking for a job? We texted each other yesterday. I am asking if you would be available by nine cause I'm going that way. If not then just say so. I'm not available Tuesday. Make it this afternoon.
As what I have experienced with these texts, I can only imagine what kind of manager you have and I would not want to work with someone who is UNPROFESSIONAL. If you ask ANY HR personnel, interviews are scheduled a day or even days prior and not AN HOUR before the interview time, with the scheduled time of interview. There was never even a time to confirm the interview on Dec 27, he just texted out of the blue.
If your manager had formal training, he would know NOT to say things that are UNPROFESSIONAL such as:
"Are you really looking for a job?"
"I'm not available Tuesday. Make it this afternoon."
You DO NOT DEMAND an applicant to show up even if there was no confirmation beforehand.
I can now see why this vacancy still hasn't been filled as this was posted Oct 23 and it is now December.
