A wireless router is needed to distribute your internet to wireless terminals. I have recently purchased a Dlink wireless router for P2,600 plus a wireless PCMCIA (for my old laptop), so all in all I shed around P4,000 pesos.

Setting up a wireless router can sometimes a daunting task, specially if you have no experience (even a little) on these equipments. Some say they are plug and play, that is, you plug them and you can use them, but personally I don't think it goes as easy as it may seem.

If you are a person who do not want to read manuals, then you need to call a friend or perhaps call the banker to help you. But if you're a seasoned individual and loves reading and understood what he is reading, then 1 hour of setting up a router is too long for you.

You also need to be aware of the security of wireless routers, since you will be broadcasting your connection (if you enabled it) and inviting everybody to connect to your network. You don't want somebody to piggyback on your internet connection, do you? So, read the security manual.
