Tried guitar lessons, its not for me hehehe.. but i do click the like buttons on youtube of guys showing insane guitar skills!
The great thing about guitar lessons is that you can ask your teacher questions and get answers right away. You can't dp that with books and videos.
Also, teachers could see immediately and correct your bad habits.
Ako I've learned the guitar by reading. It helps kung naa kai passion, the ear for it(maka ila ka ug yabag) and determination.
Wala ko nag need ug professional assistance kai wala man koi plano mag future guitarista. So nag practice pud ko basa2x ug note.
Karon, mga 13-15 years later, kahibalo gihapon ko mo kuskos, mo pluck gamay, and maka sepra just by listening.
I think, tanan interesado mag guitarista nag agi ani.
And lastly, practice... bisan 30mins a day, I guarantee, ug willing jud ka, ma kat-on ka in less than a month. Maybe not to the extent nga maka tukar naka'g mga Rage Against the Machine, pero mga Leaving on a Jetplane ug Passenger Seat lang nga level. And I'm not talking mediocre quality. Mildly-exceptional na.
Mao lang usa na akong maitambag.

Quick tips mate...
1st: Know the rhythm chord progression of the song (Ex. Knocking on heavens door - Gmajor - Dmajor - C ). This is classic 1-4-5 chord progression. In key of Key G where D is the 5th note and C is the 4th note of the G major scale.
2nd : Because the 1 chord of progression is G , so pwede gamitan og G minor pentatonic. But with a little bit of theory, based on the chord progression, if 1 chord is followed by a major chord, then minor chord (like our example knocking on heavens door), it is best to use the G major scale. In the version by GNR , Slash uses the G major scale in his solos.
1st rule : there are no rules.
2nd rule : if it sounds good, then it sounds good.
Tip : listen to Marty Friedman.
When actual playing playing..pwede raman. You can always use it the Bb as a passing tone. If you dont like the sound then you can always bend it. You can always mixed both major and minor penta on a major chord vamp. Everybody does it . Gives you freedom. If you are still not satisfied, you can always do a chromatic run sequence, with the Bb as the passing tone and stop your lick runs at chord tones. That's jazz.
For every major scale, the sixth note is always a relative minor. Em penta is the relative minor of G. So, yes you can use Em penta on a G major chord vamp. This is the same with A major scale in which F#m is the sixth note of the major scale. F#m can be called relative minor of A major scale. You can use F#m scale on a A major chord vamp.
so, asa man dyud maau na music school para sa mga gusto mkat.on ug lead guitar/mu solo? any recommendations?
