    *** INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT

    The Project "Zero Carbon Resorts towards Sustainable Development of the Tourism Sectors in the Philippines and Thailand" (ZCR for Sustainable Tourism) is a 4-year project launched in May 2014 with financial support of the European Union. It aims to contribute to the sustainable development of the tourism sector with a focus on reduction of resource consumption and CO2 emissions. In both countries Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will demonstrate the value of green tourism by increasing resource efficiency and using renewable energy. The project is being implemented by Austrian, Spanish, Thai, and Philippine organizations.

    The training series will cover theoretical knowledge and hands-on experiences about energy and resource efficient operation, green technologies, renewable energy, water management and waste treatment, and sustainable building.

    Trainees will play a significant role during and after the project as disseminators of knowledge and consultants to the tourism industry.


    *** WHO MAY APPLY?

    The opportunity of high-level trainings will be given to those who are motivated to learn resource efficiency and techniques, and to disseminate and implement the lessons learnt, during and after the project. The following educational and professional background will be particularly preferred, because the trainees will need to understand engineering terms as well as technological innovations throughout the trainings.

    -Environmental management
    -Electrical engineering
    -Chemical engineering
    -Energy consulting
    -Environmental engineering
    -Renewable energy
    -Mechanical engineering
    -Architecture
    -Civil engineering
    -Sustainable tourism
    -Other equivalent/related backgrounds


    *** REQUIREMENTS

    1) Availability. The training on Reduce Basic Course will be conducted in November 2014.

    2) Duration of participation. Project duration is approximately 4 years. Participation in the training programme is at least 2 years.

    3) Commitment Agreement.

    4) Proficiency of English language.

    5) Reporting and posting.

    6) Physical capability and insurances. The training involves several on-site trainings and practices. Thus, applicants should be able to carry out physical activities and travels, and have their own health and accident insurances. No liability can be carried from the project for the aforementioned issues.


    *** BENEFITS

    I. High-quality training from European and Asian experts. Trainees will be provided with all necessary skills starting from profound knowledge on thermodynamics, to a wide range of technical skills and up-to-date technology information. They will also have chances to apply the gained knowledge directly at hotels and resorts by carrying out energy audits, under the supervision of experts from Austria, Spain, Thailand and the Philippines.

    IV. Opportunity for further involvement with the project more intensively. After a careful evaluation, a selected number of best-performing and motivated trainees will be offered an extended on the job training funded by the project.


    *** SELECTION

    Only a limited number of participants can be accepted for the training program. The selection process therefore is competitive. Selection is based on qualification, motivation and sincerity to be proved by the applicants. The training fees for the training program and international experts are covered by the ZCR for Sustainable Tourism project, thus no fees will be collected from the selected participants. Additionally, meals will be provided at training venues.

    The final selection for acceptance will be announced by the project lead.

    The training this month will be from November 21st to November 25th. The training fees for the training program and international experts are covered by the project, thus no fees will be collected from the selected participants. Additionally, meals will be provided at the training venues. Trainings are spread throughout the 2 years duration of the project.

    It is a special traineeship program. There is an opportunity for further involvement with the project more intensively after the November 2014 training. After a careful evaluation, a selected number of best-performing and motivated trainees will be offered an extended on the job training funded by the project.
