Having experienced working in a traditional japanese company for a year here in Japan, I could truly feel there is discrimination. I can feel a lot of eyes looking at me whatever I do, may it be just standing up just to go to the toilet. I can't even browse the net without the people beside me peering over my monitor. But I have learned to adapt well. I treat them the way they treat me. Since they look at me as a foreigner, I act like one. I don't stay late for work, I go out once the clock strikes 6. And you could say they are plastic, so that's how I act towards them too lol.

(This is only true at work. I have Japanese friends outside of work too)

On my end, i really dont have any problems working alone or as a lone foreign staff in the group.

i have met some japanese friends outside of work. bali they are college studes who are interested in english and in fact studied in the states para lang mka mao sa english language. since ako ganahan man pod ko ma improve ang akong japanese language, so mag hangout pod me, mag road trip, but i feel no matter how good you are to them or they are to you, you still considered by them as "sotto" meaning outsider. i felt they befriended me because i can teach them good english, bali murag friends with benefits ba..lol.. but theres this one japanese nga i feel maayu jud sya and very open about other cultures and nationalities, kami mao sige kyuog mg roadtrip outside tokyo, mag onsen, mg clubbing sa roppongi..lol....
