up for this ,good information ,some guys are banking on the ignorance of consumer. Seagate and maxtor never intended their rma to make it a business for other people. If this continues seagate/maxtor will realize this and will probably lower their warranty period.

Problem with this is the buyers or the ones that offer rma service just says "save" or "ayaw ilabay kai makwarta pa" ,not telling people that you can do it yourself.

actualy I did this myself last month. I check my seagate serial no. and model no. and verified that is still has a warranty then I fill up the create RMA form and then save the information that I'll be needing later to check the status of my RMA. After that I sent my harddrive to fritz using lbc (220php) could be cheaper like air21 probably 90php. After three days I received an email from seagate and then gave me a tracking no. and that I will be getting a new replacement. After a couple of days later I received my harddisk sealed ang packaged.

this probably should be stickied to help fellow istoryans

explain ra ko sa akong side ha...

    Ang ako negosyo ra man,
actually, let say or lets accept it, daghan ang dile salig sa pagpadaa by courier here in philippines, ug daghan pud ang tapulan

ang ako- buy ra man or swapping- kay naay uban gusto nila i-convert na lang into money so they can upgrade capacity or buying new accessories for their rig

    @ ALL
you can ask me anything on this matter, im here to answer or give my side

or ask my customer who got swapping my new RMA HDD ug katong nag-pa-service for RMA
    sila- wala man moreklamo...

This INFORMATION serves to TELL those who don't have any knowledge THAT THEIR Defective HARD DISK DRIVE still UNDER WARRANTY can BE RETURNED and A BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT is Given......

Some PEOPLE JUST REFUSES to Share this information.... and make money from the IGNORANCE of computer users......

ITS FREE to GET REPLACEMENT for your DEFECTIVE Seagate hard drive.... PROVIDED it is still under WARRANTY....

Yes you spend for shipping the SEAGATE HArd DRIVE to Singapore.... BUT YOU GET A BRANDNEW HARD DRIVE FOR FREE..... what is 300-500 pesos for sending a defective HARD DRIVE to Singapore.... and You get a BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT......

this is a classic case of choosing between pure public service or taking advantage of a business opportunity. those that bought defective devices from others could have chosen to inform the public thru forums like these of the warranty that seagate is offering but rather chose to make a business venture out of it. it would have been a nobler thing to do if these people chose the former option but let us remind ourselves that these people are not legally or morally bound to do that. i am certain that these people are into computer businesses so it is quite understandable that they opted to cash in on it. one important thing to note also is that those people who sold their defective devices did it on their own free will without being coerced. them being ignorant of the seagate's replacement offer should be of no consequence against the buyers of their defective devices. had these people cared so much on why some "crazy" (pardon the word. it's just a term, not meant as an actual description) people are buying their defective hd's, they should have exercised utmost prudence and checked the web or asked around why as crazy as it is, their defective hd's are being bought. don't get me wrong here guys, i myself would have wished that those buyers should have made the more noble choice and informed the public of seagate's replacement offer as a moral and public service but it is also hostile and downright cruel to accuse them of any wrongdoing. com'on, if you were in the same business as they are, probably you would have done the same thing. i appeal to everyone's coollheadedness. as long as they are not hurting anyone, just let them be. and one last thing, everything's laid out now - there are those that buy defective hd's hasslefree vs. do it yourself replacement. the public (or at least istoryans) is now informed of seagate's warranty offer thru this thread so it's up to them which option to exercise. let's try our hardest not to hurt anyone in any manner. peace is beautiful.
