vrm heating is fairly common. why are people too defensive? i have that with my H55 now and also other intel chips with on-die NB. There is a logic behind that apus may be heating because the igpu is supplied with power by the cpu vrms. Meaning more current to handle. That may be a fact as it is also with previous intel cpus. Only difference is it might not be an issue with some people while for others it is nowhere near acceptable.

moving forward, TS out of your choices, there is definitely no doubt that option 3 will get you more value out of your money. get a 740 and the performance gap would be monumental.

I did not deny it to be non-existent. It's just not something to get too worried about. And he's building his concern on false pretense that overheating vrms is rampant that it causes system restarts.

by option 3 u mean g3258. ill probably drop in an inherited 550ti. but this means i have to buy a 970 for my main rig... too many zero's.

im thinking of using i3 instead for option 3.....

Overclock the G3258 and you're around i3 performance. But if you are planning of dropping that 550ti instead, even a celeron will do. But for the sake of not being stingy, you can get a G3240. That way you can augment your budget for a 970, which i think should be of life or death urgency.
