Are we saved by faith alone, or do we need works, too?

We are saved only by the grace of God...but the external proof of our salvation is the good works that we show towards other people.

If you trusted Christ to have the power to save you then you will have a saving faith in Him, that faith will result to good works, simple as that.

People act in line with what they believe. For instance, if we believe a stove top is hot, we will not place our hand on it. If we believe vitamins are essential for good health, we will take them. Good marketers persuade people to believe they need a certain product in order to induce people to buy it. The actions that result from our faith are no different from those that result from other of our beliefs. If we truly believe God is who He says He is and that the Bible means what it says, we will act accordingly.

Faith takes care by itself of problems but that doesn't mean we don't have to do anything... we have to hope and also work a bit to make everything happen.

yep, even pagans are capable of good works without having to believe. therefore, good works is not really an external proof of salvation.

There are different interpretation of this text alone.. but based on the WHOLE verse what it mean is that If someone said they have FAITH but cannot be SEEN in the works that they Do, its NOT a TRUE FAITH or on other terms DEAD.

In original Hebrew Text, it uses the word ἀργή or argē, or argos - Which means inactive, idle.

Its not argue, its more like discussion on each of our belief.

Christians ONLY have one Bible BUT hundreds of religions and different Doctrines, its Only NATURAL to ask WHY? and if you ask WHY then theres always discussion.
