The KOBE vs JORDAN Debate

As long as Kobe is playing spectacular whether the Lakers are winning or not, there will always be the comparison to Michael Jordan. He's the closest to Jordan after all these years. Names like Vince Carter, Grant Hill and even Penny Hardaway and Allen Iverson came up but all comparisons just died down because they weren't able to keep up with the expectations. As for Kobe, since his rookie year with the Lakers and when Jordan was still with the Bulls, he was already dubbed as the "Air Apparent". And until now, Kobe just keeps getting better and better that's why everybody is pitting him up against Jordan.

There will never be another Jordan, not even LeBron or Carmelo or even Kobe will be or MJ's son will be. Michael Jordan is Michael Jordan, but by being the "best" in the eyes of most people now, Kobe of course will be compared to nothing less than the NBA's and the world's greatest himself.

ah okay cos last season kobe was injured pag nov, then pag dec..kwame and odom were injured then, vrad pag feb(out of rest of season)...odom was back pag march, then it was walton....walton, kwame, and odom were injured playing against phoenix last season. they played their hearts out against the 120mph Suns.

I think having a good conditioning program will also help a team..MJ or Kobe couldn't do without that

and when Jackson now have praises for Kobe, it was too late coz the lineup has already disbanded because of those petty squabbles, would have MJ made a difference in the middle of those squabbles? I do think so, the character of MJ rubs off to his teammates..And the reason for those riffs in that Lakers lineup? everyone wanted to play the way he wants to be, no leader with MJ's charisma could gather all the egos to play their roles..Phil was lucky in chicago he had MJ..Harper, Kukoc, Longley and even Pippen are stars in their own right but they wanted a ring more badly they were willing to give what it takes be it fame, playing time and what have you

as far as I can remember, MJ also had squabbles w/ his teammates before winning those first 3peat championships...especially to Bill Cartwright, wherein he'd rather shoot the ball than pass it to him...then he realized OMG, I have to pass this ball or I'll be stuck in this predicament (always losing to the Pistons)...hehehe...

there were times that the Bulls played with injured athletes too..at a time Pippen played hurt, Luc Longley also and Ron Harper and those were key guys in the rotation

ahh I think I remember that season, murag pag 1997-98 na nga season, where pippen was hurt and missed almost half of the season, halos tanan players nila na injured. and yet they win 62 games.. and in the finals pip. played hurt thank's to MJ they still won that championship in a very hard way...


the bulls in the late 90's were amazing

1. 1995 - 96 - they won 72 games - the best record to date
2. 1996 - 97 - they won 69 - the second best record to date tied with the lakers led by Jerry West.
3. 1997 - 98 - they won 62 - their lowest

they almost got back to back 70' win season...

1. in the 80's - you've got magic and bird both won championships and MVP's
2. in the 90's - you've got MJ and Hakeem Olajuwon but mostly dominated by MJ.
3. 2000's - MJ passed his throne to shaq. winning four championships and an MVP ring
4. now - Shaq has passed his throne to Tim Duncan...


no offense to Kobe, AI, Carter etc. fans but I don't really see them as an elite.. they are great. but when compared to those above........hmmmmmm

I hope ma haros ni kobe ang championships from 2008 - 2010.. para maabot na tawn ciya sa elite group. mao raman gyud nay makapahilom sa iya critics when he start winning championships and MVP's as a leader not a sidekick.
