A routine panoramic x-ray is done to check the surrounding bone and soft tissue integrity. In the end, it's to avoid impending complications. While, it's customary to just take a periapical radiograph in the Philippines, it's the standard practice to have a panoramic as part of the diagnostic materials. Not all cases are the sane.
