Pumaren said the candidates, 18 years and younger face a long, rugged and hectic schedule that includes overseas training and stints in international youth tournaments.

“This is important for us because this batch will probably carry the men’s team in the near future,” said Pumaren.

Practice will start Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Blue Eagle Gym in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
    MONACHINI SIGNS WITH SPARTANS
LANGLEY, British Columbia - Trinity Western University men's basketball coach is pleased to announce the signing of outstanding student-athlete Niko Monachini to the Spartan roster for the start of the 2009-2010 season.
"Niko is an excellent student-athlete that brings a quality to TWU that matches that of our overall team. We are fortunate to have Niko sign with Trinity Western and we know he will have an immediate impact both as a Spartan and a member of the TWU community," said TWU head coach Scott Allen.
Monachini, a graduate of Hugh Boyd in Richmond, B.C., comes to TWU after a brief stop last fall at Yuba College in Marysville, Calf. While at Hugh Boyd he averaged an impressive 25 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks and three assists per game.
