3 point shooting cguro advantage si kobe. pero scoring Jordan got my vote..... averaging a carreer best 30.01 tied with Willt.. kobe is norming 25 or 26 points per game in his entire Carreer..

Iverson is a better scorer than kobe.... check the stats www.nba.com......

heck even David Robinson socred 71 points in a game is he a better scorer than jordan nope....

Correction lang, Kobe hit 49 FGs in his 81 point performance and Jordan hit 48 FGs in his 69 point performance? Assuming all of those were 2 point-FGs, Kobe would've scored 98 points and Jordan scored 96 points in FGs alone!! Maybe Kobe and Jordan attempting 49 and 48 attempts.

Actually, the stats really don't speak a lot. Kobe didn't start the way Jordan and Iverson started their careers, Kobe was a shadow to Shaq and it took him years before he became a relentless scorer unlike MJ and Iverson who were immediately the go to guys since their rookie seasons. Since Shaq left, look at Kobe, he's been scoring at will. He can easily have those 40 or 50 point nights and do it in a night to night basis. It was not because of Kobe's 81 point performance that made him the better scorer but it's his consistency to score big every night. He's got the reputation of being a ballhog or being selfish yet he's effective. Got any player who singlehandedly outsocre the other team after three quarters? Not even Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point performance was able to outscore the New York Knicks after three quarters. Kobe did against Dallas (Kobe 62, Dallas 61).

its true. kobe is an amazing scorer no doubt saludo ko niya.. but in the end sa stats ra gyud ang basihan sa tanan..... even sa playoffs makita nimo nga without shaq ni fumble siya sa phoenix this 2 previous match ups while in jordan's case he leads all player scoring wise sa playoffs....

mo agree pa ko nga one of the best single game performer.... pero kung scoring wise... mas consistent si jordan leading in scoring for 10 seasons. thats amazing......

and you're refering to the dallas 61 and kobe's 62......... again thats just a single game....... remember kobe finished a carreer best of 35.1 points per game in a season while jordan has a carreer best of 37.1 points per game in a season.....

if kobe can reach above the 37.1 mark or if he can ave. even 37.2 points per game in a season then ...... ma ka convince na mo nga he's the better scorer and so far wala pa na niya ma achieve...

and even though Kobe is a ball hog, he plays lockdown defense on his man..can shoot the ball @ the free-throw line well if he gets fouled...how kobe scored in his 81pt performance was tremendous considering the way he attempted most of those shots - fadeway 2 or 3pointer, multiple defenders..if kobe played for charlotte, I can assume that he could have increased his career scoring averages...

yah it's debatable..but my point in this case is MJ heavily relied in his fadeaway (post moves) and during his time it was a man-to-man defense, wherein today it's not strictly man-to-man, a team can play man-zone, if you don't have a consistent jumpshot, either a 2 or 3, then you would have a difficulty against this type of defense...

And when the game is on the line, that's where he steps up to lead the charge..in the case of Kobe lately, he has always tried to get everybody involved but the way I see the Lakers, they are too loose and inconsistent, mura ug wala kaassimilate sa ila roles..seems like the character of his teammates is "I'll spot up and hopes Kobe finds me, if not her'll find a way to score"..Jordan involved his teammates not only in offense but also in defense and even off the court, can't say the same for Kobe

and that's where MJ made a difference, he made his teammates better players not by making them look good with fancy passes but by leading through example. MJ expected the best out of himself and his teammates, his intensity rubbed off the whole team he played for(at least when he was with the Bulls), kung teammate ka ni MJ maikog ka nga magparelax relax ka oi kay when you look at an established superstar work so hard, you at least try to match his hardwork..On the other hand it seems like Kobe's teammates look at him as just another NBA player, he hasn't gotten near the respect MJ earned with his teammates in the Bulls organization

Kobe's got 62 and Dallas got 61, it's just one game, but Kobe is the only player who was able to outscore a team after three quarters in the NBA history, not even Michael Jordan was able to do it.

Michael Jordan started out his career when defense was not really given much emphasis. But since the late 80's and during the 90's where defense became more intense in the NBA, Jordan was only able to top the 33 point plateau with an average of 33.6 ppg during the 1989-90 season. As for Kobe, again, there's no way Kobe can beat MJ's all-time scoring average because he started out coming out from the bench as the Lakers fifth option during his rookie year and was Shaq's sidekick for a long time while Jordan apparently became Chicago's top player instantly. Setting aside his Lakers days with Shaq, Kobe averaged 31.53 ppg compared to Jordan's 31.4 ppg during Chicago's first three-peat reign, presuming that Kobe is at his prime this time and MJ during the 1990-93 season. Kobe even won by a hair.

Since Shaq left, Kobe has been flirting with different scoring records. In January 2006, Kobe became the first NBA player since fellow Lakers legend Elgin Baylor to score at least 45 points in 4 consecutive games, joining Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor as the only players to do so. And also during that month, Bryant averaged 43.4 points a game, the 8th highest scoring average any player has reached and the only player in the top 8 other than Wilt Chamberlain. The following season, Bryant posted 3 straight games scoring at least 50 points (65-50-60), a first since no less than Michael Jordan posted such feat in 1987 and the second Laker to do it since Elgin Baylor in 1962. Not content, Bryant broke his personal scoring record in the same season, scoring at least 50 points for 4 straight games, putting him second to Wilt Chamberlain for most 50 point games with 7 (twice). Bryant ended the season with a total of 10 50-point games, making him the second player to achieve such feat after Wilt Chamberlain did it in the 1961-62 and 1962-63 seasons.

It's because Kobe had Shaq for a long time. If MJ had someone like Shaq along with him, I doubt if he'll end up with 10 straight scoring titles.

Again, the stats or should we say the "evidence" won't speak a lot. MJ would go down as the NBA's highest scoring player but that doesn't mean he's the greatest scorer. If "papel" ang atong basehanan, then both Kobe and Jordan doesn't qualify to that because both Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone has scored more points than them althroughout their careers then the discussion about being the "best" scorer is pointless.

Fact is, being the "best" is more than just scoring. Sure I'll admit, Kobe IS the better scorer. But that doesn't mean he's the best player there ever was. Come to think of it, Reggie Miller was a better shooter than MJ, but do you hear comparisons?

Pippen sucked when he came to the league. Playing with the Bulls and MJ changed all that. Kwame Brown's with Kobe and mind you, he was the first overall draft pick, but has he improved with the Lakers?
