yeah, im rooting for AMD too.. but it looks like they're not gonna topple intel soon. even if barcelona wins, i'm still gonna go for penryn quad core because my current board will support it with a few bios updates
oh by the way, AMD just announced SSE5 support for their future processors, as far as I know, Intel only supports up to SSE4.. hopefully that translates to better performance. Intel in the future are also gonna follow the way of AMD (at last) by incorporating the memory controller on the CPU.. but that would still probably be a couple of years.
SSE5 sus dugaya pa ato bai 2009 pa, kana ug dili ma delay na pud, according sa amd roadmap,,,about memory controller sad mas maayo gyud mo follow nalang ang intel sa amd kay ga kalas kalas lng korente ng north bridge chipset sa intel, ug mag add tag RAM stick sa intel setup mas fully loaded gyud ang chipset and mas dakog effect mo taas ang power consumption.

2.5GHz: 23,768
3.0GHz: 30,031
Since these are higher scores than the current world record of about 27,000 achieved with a grossly overclocked Intel quad-core, this looks impressive.
There's a few problems, though:
First, the 3DMark score went up 26% just by increasing the processor speed 20%. That's a scaling of 130%. That's pretty good, matter of fact, it's too good to be true based solely on changing the speed of the same type CPU.
Second, this is especially true for 3DMark 2006, which is primarily a video card, not a CPU benchmark. As you can see here, the percentage increase in 3DMark scores based on increases in CPU frequency isn't 130%, it's less than 30%. For instance, for the quad-cores listed, a frequency increase of 25% yields just a 6% increase in the score. That's a scaling percentage of 24%.
Therefore, an 20% increase in CPU speed alone ought to get you a 3DMark score about 5% better, not over 25%. "

hm...personally, I hope ok ra ang mga barcelona, para naa gihapon competition, db?
pero if mu-flop, bye-bye AMD...
looking forward to Barcelona vs. Yorkfield
CPU wars napud!!!

Now think twice, and if you're still a believer...
Check this out...
Para maka 30K sa 3DMark06, with the previously mentioned config, you need a CPU score of 14319 points....
...the highest CPU score is...8511 with a Core 2 Quad at only 5346MHz ...
hopefully nice ang barcelona, kay promising man jud...
pero ang naa sa news...mura impossible, if mahitabo to, bilib na jud ko sa AMD

For general information
From the Inquirer:
From NordichHardware:To be clear with you, dear readers, two HD2900XT cards were overclocked to 830MHz for the core and 900MHz for the memory, but ominous Catalyst 7.7 drivers were used.
The GPUs were overclocked to 880MHz and the memories to 950MHz, with modified memory latencies for better performance.
Take the scores from NordichHardware (which are higher because the clocks are higher) and running the 3dMark06 score calculator shows that even a CPU score of 99999 (which is the maximum the calculator allows) does not yeild a score of 30K. The calculator has been tested, and it always reports the correct overall scores. This goes to show that the formula used to calculate overall score is largely based on the graphic scores not the CPU score.
i think the best thing about barcelona compared to intel's quad is the energy efficiency of the processor. its one thing that intel has not beaten AMD at... and i really like the idea nga single die quad siya... unlike intel's two dual cores combined....
apir!!!dugay jud na pulihan sa Intel ang energy-efficiency.Originally Posted by fish

pero let me remind you na mas energy-efficient ang Core 2 Quad, compared to the Quadfather(AMD).
(although Intel and AMD use different ways in measuring TDP, mas energy efficient ang C2D compared to Athlon 64~sakto man siguro?correct me if not...)
Core2 'Kentsfield' microarchitecture may not be hindered by FSB speeds, but hey, QX6850 is still the world's fastest desktop proccessor..
dugay pa man ang Penryn, November pa daw...
