it is possble to recognize a character in a resulotion of 8x8...i just need to make the 8x8 image into a binary matrix and feed it as an input on a neural network...

Turn 640x480 to 8x8? Find a better algo for downsizing bro. Maintain a 4:3 ratio sa imong image nga e-feed sa matrix. Lisod2x ni siya nga part ka'y maguba man ang character nga handwritten inig downsize. (Nag-lisod ko ani nga part sauna)

lisod jd..im trying find an algo that i can use so the image wont be deformed....ive read a book bout image processing that discusses bout lossless or lossly compression algorthm but i didnt undrstnd it very well...

its the process of downsizing thats makes the character/image deformed..thats why you need a decent resolution on where you could run your ocr engine. if you can resize your matrix to a bigger dimension then the better..

you'll just have to optimize your code to make it faster. like how you are accessing the pixels. and many more stuff ^^

yup its my prblm right now..ive also got a downsizing algorithm and it really SUCKS also....im trying to find an great algo for downsizing....

If 640x480 gyud ang imong raw image which 4:3 ratio, kailangan 4:3 ratio sa ang imong downsized.

Kay ang 8x8 is not a 4:3 ratio. Basta maintain 4:3 ratio lang gyud.

Pag-Observe sa mga image editor kung gi-unsa pag-scale (downsize, upsize) ang mga image like Gimp or Adobe Photo CS. Scale ang term ang sa mga image editor.

ok ill maintain it to 4:3 ratio..im not exactly trying to downsize it to 8x8 but to downsize it to a level that the processing time of my character recognition would be much faster...
