Thirty families were evacuated from their homes Saturday following the discovery of a large sinkhole in a town in Cebu province.
The Cebu provincial government said the sinkhole in Sitio Dapdap in Barangay Langub, Kinatarkan Island of Sta. Fe town measured 40 by 40 feet.
"Residents have been evacuated to a safe area (300 to 500 meters away) within Bgy. Langub. So far, 30 families are affected and evacuated," it said.
It added the discovery has also been reported to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau and Office of Civil Defense in Central Visayas.
The Provincial Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office sent a team to Sta. Fe to assist the families affected.
State-run Philippine Information Agency said the local government has erected a 200-meter perimeter fence around the sinkhole.
