I wouldn't think so. Kobe is a more versatile and complete player than LeBron. Kobe can slash, he can shoot, he can score at will, and plays much better defense than LeBron. Buaya? I used to think that way before, but with Kobe's situation with the Lakers, he's got no other choice. Yet with a very bad line-up, Bryant still managed to lead the Lakers to the playoffs, even came close to knocking out the Phoenix Suns 2 playoffs ago. Kobe's had numerous scoring title, Mythical team nominations and defensive team nominations every season. The scoring titles maybe justifiable because of such line-up by the Lakers, but being in the defensive team and mythical team consistently is not fluke. It's close to no less than Michael Jordan.

USA drops another big one against Canada, 113-63. That moves them to a total of +157 point differential in the tournament and a +52.3 point winning margin per game. As usual, Carmelo Anthony and Michael Redd led USA with 25 and 19 points respectively. Kobe Bryant got his highest game so far with 15 points. Though USA played dominant and effective offense, their defense is not to be overshadowed. With almost everybody on the team capable of scoring big time, Kobe's game and energy was more focused on defense. Kobe was at his usual leech like defense just like the one he showed in the previous 2 games. While fellow All-defensive team member Jason Kidd was stellar on shutting down opponents to. Kidd even had a block in the game.

7 players scored in double figures for USA and they shot 54.9% from the field compared to Canada's 32.8%. That's how excellent USA's offense and defense is.

I no longer find USA Team exciting. They're too much for other teams. Match-ups like Argentina vs Brazil are more interesting now.

Brazil was no match for USA. Even top scorer Leandro Barbosa was too helpless with USA's defense, especially Kobe Bryant. Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James had 21 points apiece while Bryant had 20 points. This was the first time that the so called "big three" of the USA Team had a big scoring night. Micheal Redd finished with 16 points for USA.

Leandro Barbosa was limited to a very uncharacteristic 4 points. What's more surprising is that Barbosa was limited to only 7 field goal attempts.

USA's next match is against Group A's Mexico.
