MUD PUMP ROOM - This is where MP is located. Ours is located below the pipedeck. We have 6 mud pumps and all are from NOV. We call them as the heart of the circulation system. We can't pump mud down to the well and circulate out the cuttings without the pump.
We are using now 14-P-220 model from NOV. It has three horizontal cylinders and has liners, piston and rods. It has a power end and the fluid end. Mechanic takes care of the power end and Derrickman takes care of the fluid end. Fluid end consist of Liner, swab rod, swab, suction module, discharge module and wear plate. The Derrickman does also the fluid inspection like the suction and discharge strainers. Suction and discharge modules. Module does consist the seat, valve, seal plug and valve seat. It can go upto 7000psi. This mud pump is not use for pressure testing it is only for circulating mud around the system. When I was working as Derrickman this is my baby. You take care of your equipment it will take care of you, so no downtime for me. If you are the star of the show, it's easy to move up next level. Mud pump is huge, big, loud and hot when it's working. Your not a good TP, Driller, AD if you don't know the MUD PUMP. It's one of the equipment that the interviewer will test you. If you can't say nothing about the MP then you don't know what is oil drilling.

I wish I would land to this kind of job.
Ayaw suya Bai, I made this thread as best as I could para ma share nako akong knowledge and experience. I have trained foreigners (expats) and now they are Toolpusher na unhan pa ko mahimo ug Rig Supt pero ok lang, I'm happy as a puppy on my position now. It's a challenge of mine now that posting this thread will help my fellow Pinoy and Cebuano that someday mo ingon sila Bai salamat sa Thread nga imong gihimo nakatabang nako. I will keep posting some equipments base on my 14 years of experience. Pasensya nalang mo sa grammar ha. Sinabtanay nalang ta.

This is my first time to use the Coriolis system, on my previous rigs we only depend on the flow rate returns and the pit volume totalizer. Increase in flow, increase in pit level means the well has a gas coming out to the surface then mitigate the problem which is wellcontrol situation. Decrease in Flow, Decrease in pit level we have to pump more so there will be no vacuum effect from the surface to initialize a kick then wellcontrol situation.
way blema, im a design engr with hands-on background and rig tours, hehehe.
naa koy e-learning modules sa Schlumberger bahin sa mga equipment pero di ko sure ug pwede ba nko ma share diri ang dload links.

Nice thread sir jill. Na inspire ko samot..
Hope pohon ma penetrate na nako ang field sa offshore/onshore oil & gas..
For now pa exp pa ko dris middle east 😄

Kung puede bai, ok ra siguro na. Kini akong explanation base sa akong nahibaw-an plus some specification from the equipment. Atong mga readers nalang mo research sa uban. Naa man gyod na ang Google. Schlumberger have website too to explain further on the equipment. Schlumberger specializes down hole tool equipment like MWD (Measurement While Drilling), LWD (Logging While Drilling). Puede sad sila mo DST (Drill Stem Test) wells that are potential money makers for the Principal.

Good luck diha Bai. Naka drill sad ko diha Bai with Precision Drilling KSA. Amo Principal kay ARAMCO. Travel mi ato almost 2 hrs from the city to the site HARAD man siguro to. Dessert na gyod to lugara. Among TOPDRIVE ato kay sa NOV pero among mga mud pump kay sa China - Bomco Mudpump. Shale shakers kay sa NOV. The rest of the equipments kay China na gyod. Likoy likoy lagi equipment basta China. Ilis gyod ug bag-o basta maguba.

Ok, mga amigos you can check out the link of pepponeskie. You can also visit Home, Schlumberger

Example of tool that we have now :

Real-time LWD sonic for drilling optimization and formation evaluation

sonicVISION sonic-while-drilling service enables you to drill safely and efficiently with unparalleled, real-time velocity measurements in hole sizes up to 30 in with 6 3/4-, 8 1/4-, and 9-in collars.

sonicVISION service improves real-time measurements with a
    real-time projection log
real-time surface labeling and quality control (QC) log
    pumps-off station measurement
    wideband measurement
    wideband high-power transmitter.

Taking advantage of the TeleScope MWD high-speed telemetry system, sonicVISION service delivers full slowness time (ST) projections to surface. This technology offers you real-time compressional (DTc) and shear measurements (DTs) with a full slowness projection log delivered while drilling at the rig site or office through the InterACT monitoring and data delivery system.

Additional QC is provided with automatic station measurements during a connection. In this noise-free environment, the tool takes a check measurement that is sent uphole when pumping resumes. This further QCs the real-time log.

These reliable, quality velocity measurements let you
    optimize mud-weight selection
predict pore pressure independent of temperature and salinity effect
    identify top-of-cement
    understand rock mechanical properties
    measure porosity sourceless
    position bit-on-seismic using synthetics
identify gas influx or formation gas
perform many other standard sonic applications.

    Other features
Additional downlinks for full parameterization of downhole acquisition parameters while drilling
High-speed record rate of up to one sample per second that lets you log at 1,800 ft/h with 6-in sampling
    Enhanced battery life
    Memory duration of 280 h up to 180 ft/h
Improved collar attenuator for cleaner waveforms for better postprocessing

Robust surface-labeled shear measurements can be used quantitatively for rock mechanics assessment, sanding analysis for production design, fracture design, gas detection, amplitude variation with offset (AVO) analysis, and fluid-independent pore pressure estimation.

This is the VDU (VISUAL DISPLAY UNIT) or other known as Cyber Screen. This is the screen that Drillers have to set up for drilling. It has Bit depth, Total depth, Stand counter, Compensator position, ROP (Rate of penetration) average m/h, TD speed RPM, Total pump, Active volume. Hookload, WOB (Weight on Bit) ton, TD torque KNm, STP (Stand pipe pressure) bars, Active strokes, Aux 1 strokes, Aux 2 strokes, Mud Return flow, Active/Gain Loss, Booster line, Trip Tank, Flow in. Stack wellbore pressure. You can modify this screen which one fits your monitoring. This screen can also be change for calibrating the equipment. Set your min/max and to override the system. I want to be thorough but this page is not enough. It took me 3 weeks for this course and very expensive one. So I'm just showing the tip of the ICE BERG. Have fun.

On this picture the two yellow piece are gimbal and spider. The gimbal is at the bottom it has 6 huge rubbers to absorb the load and shock of the riser when taking the weight. It weighs 11tons. The top one is the spider. The spider has for retractable dogs that serve as the hang off point of the riser the working pressure is 2500psi. Riser is a big tubing with 20'' OD and 19.25'' ID serve to connect from the well to the surface of the rig. Its purpose is to contain all the fluids from the well to the surface especially we are using OBM oil base mud. Spider weighs 13tons. The blue thing on top of the spider is the riser running tool to latch needs 1500psi working pressure. This equipment will lift the riser from the Riser catwalk and stub in to the next riser. The red one is called BX 5 ELEVATORS as you can see it is connected now on two bails hydraulic working pressure is at 3000psi. This might be sketchy for you but once you read this and you work on the rig you well know what I'm talking about. So for the first timers on offshore once you see this equipment you will have an idea already.
