ey aqua: yeah medyo private ni na trip coz kuyog ako family. di man gyud ni siya surf trip... vacation lang but i'm bringing my board along coz amo hometown is just a few hours away from 4 surfspots including cloud9 and lanuza. hehehehe...

i believe nitro_boy is goin on a surf trip to siargao this sept and djsparechange is going to lanuza this november. hook up with them nalang sa bro. usually 1 week gyud na sila didto with a budget of 5k-8k and dalhon man gyud guro na nila ila mga board.

by the way, didto ko argao ganiha... i made a mess out of myself and my board. the riptide is freakin sick. i had a hardtime paddling to the line up. the wave was breaking all over. there is no defined line up and break. its really hard to place urself in a position to ride especially with the board i was using which is a retro fish with super thick rails. the board was ideal for small waves but not ideal for a beach break that breaks all over coz it is impossible to duck dive with that board. so what happened was i wiped out just by paddling out coz i had no choice but to meet wave after wave head on without duck diving. there is no place to rest once ur out there in the ocean too because the rip tide is too heavy and the waves are everywhere. there is no one-spot where it breaks. there were a few locals and they were good. i guess they're used to the riptide and the wave condition but it was really hard for me. i wiped out countless of times (and i never caught a single wave) and the last wipe out was nasty and really embarrassing because i was coming in to rest (and quit trying to ride) and this huge wave broke behind me over 6 inches of water! who would have expected a huge wave to break that shallow. it was really embarrassing i think i swallowed sand and water by the buckets full. i had my face buried deep on the sand. i don't think i can surf argao. it's just too shallow and too unpredictable for me. i would love to learn how to ride that wave though. but it was really hard paddling... uwaw kaayo ko sa locals especially because one of 'em knows that i am from surigao and he knows i used to charge cloud9 and quicks. but much respect and props to the locals. i've seen really good surfers but surfing argao is a whole new ball game. i would've given it a few more tries but my wife was watching from the shore and she was starting to worry coz she saw me struggling against the ocean. so i came back in with bruised pride.

all in all i was humiliated and bruised and there is a huge dent in my pride but it was an eye opener for me too. i used to think that the heavier the wave the harder it is to ride. but now i realized that there is more to surfing than just the wave. another lesson learned. hehehehe...

Thanks for the info. That all happened in Argao? Naay bagyo? I just couldn't reconcile my memories with argao with the possibility of surfing. Nice account though. Reminds me of my first surf try in Pacifica. Wipeouts galore in balls freezing waters. (even when i had the thickest rented full steamer wetsuit) hehehe tropical creature.
I will probably try to hook up with the lanuza group kay basin maka adto ko Cagayan de oro sa Nov.

otik is now in jail. he was caught a few weeks after the murder. i think 2 of 'em got caught but 2 are still on the run. i heard it was a drug deal gone bad or something. andrew ingon nako. hahay... medyo badtrip... paolo was sort of a crazy character too... i never liked the guy. he was way out there weird. when and compe sa lanuza? i'll be there first week next month. i will dropby tandag first then lanuza.

damn...good for otik. yeah, paolo is kinda cranky. and im also aware that he is into drugs too. but too bad for him to die, especially in philippine soil particularly in siargao. which cause a bad impression to many local and foreign tourist. andrew(owner of tuazon surf)? he is a good friend of mine. i wasn't there during the last wahine competition. when im still in surigao, i normally go to siargao every other week and stay there for a week just to catch some waves. if im not mistaken mid of november will be the competition in lanuza. anyway, i will try to reach "atty." for the details for lanuza and put those info here on this thread. yeah, maybe. since siargao is a small place to see each other. im pretty sure we both know each other. heheheheh!

nice share dawg.. i went to argao also just yesterday and the kids were at play.. i couldnt find a single line so i kissed the clouds divine..i looked under the water and it was about to falter.. so i paddled nice with the locals and saw that i was playing with my vocals.. oh wait.. this is just another cracker with a bit of blatter.. so i paddled again like i used to before and i've increased the frequency.. doing a kickflip on a surfboard is no fun at all.. u get your balls tied up before u begin to stall.. u land with your ass looking at nemo.. and i suddenly.. boom.. there was boom2x getting a knock out.. man i was stoked.. surfing argao is rad..

yup. actually it was rico(nildie) called me and inform me what happen to paolo. really? yeah, andrew is busy marketing his stuff(tuazon surf). for sure i will post the details from different surfing sched for 2007. i will try to contact also PSF (jen) if she can provide me the complete the whole surfing leg for this year.
