    Cool -= Project - Install New SSD On My Netbook/Laptop =-

    Install SSD & USB/Audio I/O Board.



    Open up memory bay cover and remove keyboard screws.



    Remove palm rest.



    Remove keyboard.



    Remove metal tray.



    Remove old HDD.



    Install USB/Audio I/O Board.



    Install new SSD.



    Verify SSD in BIOS.




    OLD HDD BOOT TIME.





    NEW SSD BOOT TIME.

    besides getting a zippy boot time and application loading,
    it had also added 60-90 minutes of extra battery time. sweet!

    Yes.
    HDD Power Consumption: About 4-6W when idle, and 10-12W when in use.
    SSD Power Consumption: For mine it's 60mW idle, and 2.5W when in use.

    SSD = quiet, no spinning or clicking noises.
    SSD = much cooler than a HDD.

    6-cell battery. supposed to last "6 hours" per specs. but i've had this for 2 years so battery life had somewhat diminished.

    Thinking of buying a couple more for my other laptop and desktop.
    So freakin' damn quick! HDDs are definitely bottlenecks!
