most board nowadays are smart enough to run mixed mems regardless sa timing ug freq. I'm running a Trident X + generic rams combo, 24/7, no issues. And I don't even have to set it sa bios.

kani, usa pud ni na work around but not all mobo, in ani'g capability... naa gyud mga pili-an kun dili the same ang timing sa mem modules... for one, diri sa office... its an Asus mobo... limot ko's model... basta, LGA 1155 Z77 chipset based. unstable sya basta dili gamitan ug the same timing ang mem modules nya... in actual, gi gamitan ug1600 MHz CL11 and CL9 kay nag assume ang taga IT na mo auto adjust but dili mo padayon gani ug intall ang Win 7... pero, once i-manual set ang timing sa mem modules sa mobo, solid as a rock ang dagan nya...

ang uban mobo, paslak kay paslak lang pud. auto adjust sila.... example, ang Asus LGA 75 based na akoang gi hatag pud... DDR3 1600 MHz CL11 (2GB) and DDR3 1333 MHz (2GB)... akoang gi suwayan lang for experiment... solid as a rock sya... passed my 168 hrs continuous burn-in...

kanang sa frquency bro, mo down clock ra na ang faster ram to get in-sync w/ the slower module... but not all are 100% compatible. naa gyu'y handful na mo likoy... even on the same brand... like, sa akoang gi post sa babaw... about 1600 MHz CL11 and 1333 MHz CL9... nidagan ra na sya... mga 3 or 4 months na nag dagan ang rig na kana ang configuration sa mem modules nya... so far, stable as a rock gihapon...

by the way, mas ok pa ang 1600 MHz CL9 then paired w/ 1333 MHz CL9... 100% ni sila compatible... kanang gi mention nko sa taas on CL11 and CL9, mag hit & miss pud na... but, dili ko maka hatag sa percentage... mag depende gyud na's actual HW... pero, most of the time, as what bro sempron said, in today's technology, no need to worry... gawas lang siguro, ma timingan ta'g lemon unit even from a known brand and genuine mem module...

16 years in this hobby and never had 2 different sticks have incompatibility issues other than 1-sided and 2-sided sdrams sa una and rdrams. Ug naa man pagkakaron, either you have a non-jedec-compliant ram or a non-standard chipset like Via or Geforce.
And if ever maka-encounter ka ana and you cant force timings in the bios, guba gyud ang usa nila.

yes, pwede kaayo i-kuyog bisan dili pareho ang brand sa mem modules... basta lang, the same sila'g timing... kun dili the same ang timing, pwede ra ni nimo ma adjust sa BIOS... kun ma adjust pud ha... kun dili mag pareha ang timing sa mem modules, then mag BSOD ni sya or mag sige'g hang2x.. or, kun dli compatible sa mobo ang modules gyud... wala ta'y mahims... hehehehe...

ako diri, sa akoang m-ATX gaming rig, actual mem modules nya kay 16 GB... 2 x 4 GB Kingston HyperX Blu and 2 x 4 GB Avexir Standard mem modules... timing nila kay puro naka 9-9-9-24 (CL9 DDR3 1333 MHz)... stable as a rock... then ang isa sa akoang gi hatag na give-away rig kay naka 4GB CL9 DDR3 1333 MHz pud... 1 x 2 GB Kingston ValueRam and 1 x 2 GB Team Elite... stable as a rock gihapon ang rig...

all of these modules are "genuine"... naa'y daghan copy cats ang Kingston, Apacer, G.Skill... mention lang ko'g ... mga products from main land China... ang uban, ok ra'g compatibility... but ang uban, unstable... naa gani ni sila'y mga mem modules diri na mga DDR2 and DDR3 Kingston Value Rams for "AMD only"... dili modagan sa intel based mobo... but stable as a rock sa AMD platform... i'm a user of these mem modules... mao gamit nko sa mga give-away rigs na naka AMD platform... price wise, for a 4 GB DIMM, its 50 ~ 60% price difference compared from the genuine or even sa copy cats na compatible on both AMD and Intel platforms...

kani diay sulti nako na "Stable as a Rock"... backed by the fact ni na, after every DIY, mag padagan ko'g Mem Test software then i-burn in nko ang rig ug 1 week... 168 hrs of continues burn-in...
