women on the other hand who commit adultery suffers a more severe punishment. (This is so unfair jud) the reason y women suffer a more severe punishment kung mangabit is that the image of women is much more sacred than men. nya most importantly daw ang women man gud ma buntis, ang laki dili.... wa jud tai ma hemo ani because its the law.

i think ba our laws here are so lax lang jud. considerate ra kaau ba. mao nai naka pait.

these laws were enacted in a totally different time. the revised penal code which penalizes adultery and concubinage was enacted in 1931 and took effect in January 1932. it looks really unfair to women nowadays, but back then, it wasn't "unfair". laws are enacted to address certain specific contemporary situations. in the case of adultery, the penalty was made higher because the purpose was to prevent the introduction of "spurious blood" into the family line, i.e., the woman gives birth to a child not her husband's, but the child would ostensibly be her husband's. archaic as that may sound, that was what society thought back then, because there was no sure way to find out if the child was really the husband's or the paramour's. unfortunately, the law hasn't caught up with today's evolved moral standards....
