Yes, that may be true but come to think of it, when I invested P10K then, 6 years after without doing anything, ni-double siya. Nahulog nga passive income. With that, just for simple computation lang, the 100% increase straight divide by 6 yrs, means every year naa ko 17% na-gain sa akong money - way more than that of the bank and above inflation. Depende pud na sa unsa ka ka-risk-taker. Ang mutual fund equity is volatile pud kay sa stocks man siya gi-invest. So if dili long-term ang imo plano, makuyawan ka in those times nga mo-ubos ang value. Sa mutual fund bonds kay ginagmay (but mas dako gihapon sa inflation) ang increase but steady
Also, if you want instant gratification nga madawat dayon nimo every month or so ang ginansiya, sa traditional business jud ka padung. But for those like me nga naa day job, I'd rather trust the fund managers to do their job with my investment for now - less hassle on my part and I can spend my idle time, preparing for a business when I'm ready to quit my job.

Interesting kaayo kay ang 4 companies nga gi-mention ni @quantuminplus kay naga-invest ko ani. Monthly pud naga-invest ko sa akong savings - bisan as little as P1000 saved from sweldo. Sa monthly nga investment nako didto ko sa company nga pwede online transaction lang and capable of online monitoring pud. Kapoy man gud mo-adto, maglinya ug hulat. While the others kay panagsa ra, just for diversification.

@RightLeft wala ko group sir. Sariling sikap lang jud ko study from books and internet, mga discussions with friends, attend ug mga seminars. Most of all, akong gi-praktis. Pareho anang sa mutual fund. Curiosity lang jud nako nagdrive to invest 8 yrs ago. After 6 years ni-doble siya. From what I learned pud, gi-diversify nako akong mga gi-invest sa different mutual funds company. Based sa ilang 3-5yr returns (Investment Company Association of the Philippines) makakita ka asa imo gusto investan. Nisulay pud ko stocks market. Di pa nako kaya ang time to study ani kay inantigo jud. Safest and so far had worked for me is the mutual funds. There are people who will manage my funds for me but would be gaining way better than banks. Long term akong strategy so every month, regardless ug musaka or mo-ubos mag-invest ko. Money cost averaging works. Had learned this from a friend who had listened to a seminar.

you can try to diversify your investment like buying PLDT shares and small amount of penny stocks. pldt usually gives out above 5% dividends while penny stocks may go sky high in time with just small amount of capital e.g if you bought 5 thousand pesos worth of shares of DMCi holdings in 2002, the value of your stock now is more than a million pesos..
