I’ts been two years since I graduated from college and I’ve been working as a sailor for almost a year. One time, our ship docked at Buenaventura, Colombia, a city that has a strong similarity to my home city, Cebu. That night I decided to explore the place and give myself a treat, I roamed around the corridors and alleyways, I can hear the samba music playing on air, shops of different kinds adorned the side of the streets, I passed by a barbecue shop where the owner was grilling porks and chickens, it’s aromatic smoke filled the air and invites the passerbys to stop and check the place. I then reached a street filled with pubs, I strolled in the area for a while checking every place and settled to go inside one named “Amor Rosa”. I sat on the farthest side bar and ordered a bottle of beer, while waiting for my drink to be served I did a quick scan around the place, The pub had a handful of guests, men and women alike. As I was with my third bottle of beer a pretty redhead woman sat beside me, she wore a black dress which shows her voluptuous figure and a black high-heeled shoes. She greeted me with a simple “Hi”.. and I turned to face her and replied “hello”. She told me her name was Tanya and she beamed a smile at me showing her perfect set of pearly whites,. “Would you care and by me a drink sailor? She asked me with a thick latin accent, to which I replied “I wouldn’t mind” and I signaled the bartender to give her a drink. We talked for over some time about everything about nothing, we exchanged some flirtatious comments, I can feel the sexual tension building around us, and then Tanya asked me, “Why do you drink sailor? Do you drink to forget?” I answered, “I drink to remember”. She smiled at me and said “we have tonight sailor” I saw a glint of mischief in her blue eyes which made me smile and said “Yes, we got tonight”… and with that we headed outside the bar and walked in dimly lighted street and vanished into the night.
