I heard the Russians have already been spotted in Crimea yesterday, checked the news today...it's true.

Ukraine accuses Russia of invading Crimea - Europe - Al Jazeera English
Russian Troops Take Over Ukraine's Crimea Region - ABC News

I did not expect this to escalate this much so fast since the riots in Kiev.

This is very bad. Putin was part of the Soviet apparatus and now Russian tanks are on the move again. The Cold War has been re-ignited and nuclear non-proliferation will soon be out the window.

mura ni thailand pildi pildi sa election so nag resort sa mass rally rally para ma kick out ang elected governement naa pa gyud mga foreign government rep nag join so unsaon man na karon na questionable man kung sila ba gyud ang majority sa ukraine, na gubot gyud mahitabo ana kay uban provinces dili man mu recognize sa newly unelected government sa kiev ang system nila mura federal ug naa pa autonomous provinces ang kapait pa gyud ka daghan ethnic russians sa eastern provinces thats why panalo ilang manok na presidente even thought dili ni cya popular sa western provinces. remember katong yugoslavia if normal snap election will not push thru mu break up gyud ng ukraine into different independent states.

Both western and russian meddling failed sa ilang calculations at the very list snap elections should have happen instead the former president was to force to flee. what a mess

jist of what this escalated from:
    • Ukrainian president Yanukovych puts off signing an Association Agreement with EU (under pressure from the Kremlin)
    • Euromaidan protests begins in Kiev (primarily composed of Western Ukrainians; Eastern Ukrainians generally see themselves as Russians, and agree with the suspension of the EU AA)
    • Ukraine passes anti-protest laws, protest escalates, casualties mount,
    • Russia exerts more pressure, Yanukovych flees the capital. Says he does not recognize the opposition-controlled parliament in Kiev,
    • and then Russia sends troops to the Crimea. Analysts say its to anticipate and support a pro-Yanukovych/pro-Russian coup.

AFAIK the residual divide between the East and West from the Cold War is still very fresh in Ukraine (and other former Eastern Bloc countries). U.S. is still very unclear about where they stand or what they do, but there have been words of condemnation from Kerry.

Stop Putin troops in Ukraine, the rest of the world should not keep putin up with this kind of mess.
