For me, we can have food and freedom at the same time if we elect good leaders to rule us. The problem is the poor ones being majority are being lured with money and promises by dirty politicians. As they used to say, we deserved the kind of leaders we voted.

Which brings us again to the argument that the economy should be placed above everything else. The economy affects the lives of the people and it influences how they can make money to put food on the table. If they have that, they could care less about press freedom and all that BS.

Singapore by a certain standard is a dictatorship since their press is not that free. However, they get things done, the people get jobs and they have food to eat. Though the jobless rate there is not an astounding 0% but on a per square meter basis there is definitely more employed people there compared to the philippines.

It is really easy to beat our asian neighbors. Just make a job friendly economy and get rid of vested interests.

yes the people have freedom, just like animals in the jungle. they are free to roam around and look for food. and the jungle is full of hungry wild animals ready to pounce on you and take your food away. but in a zoo, you get your own ration of food just for yourself, nobody to hurt you or steal from you. just for you alone, but then you're in a cage and being taken care by experts giving you the best possible care.

People want freedom but let them become responsible for their own actions and they come back to their parents - the government hahahahaha.

People should know the difference between freedom and economic freedom, that would really open their minds.

Wild animals have instincts. They don't care if they die, they just do what they do.
