For me, the meaning of faith according to the Bible is not just believing in Christ alone, nor believing in Christ and doing good deeds, but the definition of faith in the Bible is believing in Christ Jesus and trusting in Him knowing that you are a sinner and can do nothing without Him. Sure the demons and even Satan believed that Jesus was Christ, but that isn't faith. What James tried to say was that if you have faith in Christ then your good deeds will follow; he wasn't saying that if you have faith and good deeds you will be saved.
