Kaveri is good for small HTPCs. But if you mind performance at the same time, there are better alternatives.

Nvidia Geforce GT 640 - 1627

Kaveri Price point competition. (Rough estimates based on local price lists).

A10-7850k = 8K (This is only the launched AMD price. Retail prices can reach up to 9k).

i3 4130 + Geforce GT 640 = 8.6K

i3 4130 + R7-250 = 9.2k


Honestly. I think the kaveri is not aimed for enthusiasts, neither is it aimed for gamers in general.
Even if you want to build a PC only intended for light workloads, you can always grab an Intel pentium G3220 haswell and pair it with a decent video card.

Kung gamer jud ka, nya kaveri emung ma palit, I assure you maka upgrade mo ug ahat in less than 2 months.

Kagamit na ka ug apu? A8-5600k owner here, mostly NBA2k14 ako ginadula and some rpg ( Skyrim and Torchlight ) 5-7hours/day. I had it since october last year, pretty satisfied. Those are played at 1080p btw.

Sige paubsan nato ug 20k na lang boss pero imoha tong quad-core apu rig ha. Ug aron dili mo moingon nga this is all about being biased with Intel, lets make the other setup Phenom II X2 560/565 BE + HD6750. (20K to at least recover the expenses)

been reading further... nice na unta ning FM2+ platform today pero, next year, ma bya-an napud ni sila's Blue camp due to a limited technology... but, there will always be a workaround... like releasing a new chip set that will support the upcoming current trend... that's DDR4... again, CPUs and APUs are totally different animals though...

But you sound so sure on your last statement I almost believe you've used one before. Kana akoa dili na based sa mga reviews lang personal experience na. Gaming and high-end hardware, they mix, but not needed as if it's a necessity. Check out steam's survey. You'll be surprised that the majority of gamers are using old gen hardware. And alternatives? There's always alternatives. Di na jud siya mawala. But it doesn't mean this one is 1% better than the other kailangan na jud kana kuhaon. I'm pretty satisfied with the apu, it never fails me, and plays my games excellent so logic dictates I stick with it. If you think you're better of with the other one then by all means go. This is not religion. If people are interested to try out the apu, then let them be. If dili sila gusto then ok ra pud.
