this is not a 5 peso worth of experiment we're talking about here. it involves our sanity as well as the safety of pedestrians whom we first envisioned before building these skywalks.
our sanity, because as educated individuals, we prefer to address a simple problem in a very stupid manner like "removing the roof" off of the skywalks.
our safety, because as designed by architects, the roof would shelter pedestrians from rain and direct sunlight while passing thru it. granting that the anti jay-walking law is not consistently implemented in this part of the city and the roof of the skywalks removed, pedestrians would use the skywalk's shade and instead cross the street underneath it. if you're driving in heavy rains, imagine how difficult it is to maneuver the vehicle you're driving because of visibility issues. put a pedestrian in that equation, isn't it ironic to hear " a pedestrian was a victim of a hit and run that happened below the skywalk".
imagine that pedestrian was your brother, your sister, your wife, your parent or worse... your kid. now tell me if you still want the roof off the skywalk??
I don't think you can still say your piece after such tragedy...
