New leather furniture and a cat...?

Okay so I have just bought a new home and new furniture for my home. In my previous home, my cat left claw marks all over my couch set. My new furniture will be arriving next week and I spent a fortune on it and most of it is leather so I REALLY don't want my cat scratching it or ruining it.

I love her very much but also want my home to look nice. I don't want to have her declawed of course, so I'm wondering about alternatives..

Also, she isn't the type of cat that I can teach to stay off the couch or out of certain places...she'll oblige when I'm around but as soon as I turn my back she'll go in said forbidden area KNOWING she's doing something wrong because when I catch her she sneaks away and hides.

I've heard about something you can put over her claws?
Anyone else in the same boat?

Any help would be much appreciated!

i love pets, cats included and its their habit to claw through curtains, walls and furniture.
now you cant avoid them(it) from playing or messing with your leather furniture in the future.
you wont and you shouldnt torture your pet by having it declawed either.

Very simple and easy, I dunno if avaialable ba ni sa pet shop near you, its called a "Cat Scratcher" or "Cat Scratching Post".
