Intel Core i7-3770 and 8gbx2 G.Skill Ripjaws X 1866Mhz or higher RAM?

I am currently using an Intel Core i7-3770 CPU and Asus P8H77-M LE Motherboard and 4GB x 2 Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz RAM.


Now, I am planning to upgrade to 8GB x 2 G.Skill Ripjaws X 1866Mhz RAM or higher Frequency. Is it compatible to my system? And if when I upgrade my RAM will my System shows Display or Boot? I am aware that Intel Core i7-3770 Memory's Controller is 1600Mhz, that is why I am asking if this processor will run more than 1600Mhz Frequency. I don't want to overclock my system anyways, but I just want to use 1866Mhz or above since the available store here only sells 1866Mhz Memory only and they are currently don't have 1600mhz available.


I also noticed that my RAM's Frequency Speed is running at 1333Mhz based on BIOS, CPU Z and Speccy. I don't understand why it is running 1333Mhz, well I am using a 1600Mhz 4GBx2 Corsair Vengeance RAM. And also, 1600Mhz is my CPU's Memory Controller. Any idea?

Had this problem myself when I had an i7 2600. Naa koy 1866mhz nga ram unya 1333mhz ra register sa CPU-Z, of course it was just a matter of going to bios unya enabling xmp profiles. However this was with a B75 chipset ambot sa H77, but it's a higher chipset compared sa akoa so I guess mu da ra cgro na. Pangitaa lng jud sa bios.

Bro vangeoffe Intel Core i7-2600 Memory's Controller is DDR3 1066/1333Mhz based on ARK | Intel® Core, even if you are running 1866Mhz RAM but your CPU'S Memory Controller is 1333Mhz, your RAM Speed will run depending on your CPU's Speed (Memory Controller).

Yeah I know, but I didn't believe it myself ni work ang xpm profile nga na 1600mhz at least, didn't push to 1866 though. And what's surprising is b75 chipset ra hehe. I can't prove it now though kay I traded my i7 2600 na. Currently have an i5 3rd gen na and 1600mhz man xa dayun so far. Na suwayan na nmu ug change to xmp profile sa bios?

Take into account this sd ts @williexhan o if mag upgrade ka. Not much difference jd, in fact it's very negligible, pang overclocking ra na if need ka higher frequency ram. Unless di ra ka puro gaming.

Yup, the reason ngano lang mo upgrade ko og 16GB kay 8GB for Virtual Machine OS isn't enough. The reason I'm going to purchase 1866 since 1600 2x8gb is already out of stock. I will not used this for overclocking. In fact I'm not looking for higher frequency. I have no choice but to use this 1866 that's why I'm asking about Compatibility.

Ah well you should have no problem man cgro. I do believe same ra na sako ram kana g plan nmu i upgrade and it runs at 1600mhz in sync with an i5, but ma up rasd na 1866mhz if i xmp profile cgro. The i7 should be no different.

False. There is a slight difference in FPS. Slight is different from NONE. The sweetest spot for a gamer is 1600. Although its a different story when you're using an APU and clearly not the case here. 8GB is enough but games nowadays consumes more than that with OS and other running applications.

@TS, IMO, if you have the money to blow, take the 16GB 2133. There is only a slight difference in price. In terms of real world performance, what you'll feel much is the 8gb vs the 16gb and less with the 1600 vs 2133. But still, there's a difference.

it was even 800mhz vs 2400 mhz...no difference in gaming using gtx 660ti..they tested far cry 3,tomb raider,bf3 8x/4xmsaa 1080p..no difference in fps...

the ddr3 ram is used for loading game data so no need for 2400mhz ram except for apu
ddr5 vram is used for storing/rendering graphics data(pixels/textures) so even 800MHz ram is enough since you won't use it for graphics anyways..
