The SAS trained the Malays during their administration of Malaya (Malaysia, Sarawak, North Borneo & Singapore) & their techniques were passed on to the different ethnic groups, including the Tausogs & Yakans (tribes that dominate Basilan). Their non-conventional war strategy are much superior to that of doctrines used by the Americans which, incidentally, are used by our AFP. So you'll get a better picture of the MILF in Basilan and the MNLF in general.

You don't complement an all out war with dud bullets & mortar rounds. Frankly, there are no dud bullets in Warcraft, Counter Strike & other desktop strategy games.

The insincerity of the MILF rebels to continue with the peace negotiations is shown with the way the circumstances are taking place. First, they have detained a priest. Then, they have attacked our soldiers. They beheaded and mutilated some of them despite the fact that they are negotiating with the government. Now that the military forces are coming their way, they surrender hastily by releasing the detained priest.

We should stop those negotiations if they are not sincere with it. Of course, we should give justice to those soldiers who suffered cruelty with such death.

We still have the most combat-experienced standing army in Southeast Asia due to the running 38-year insurgency we fought with the NPA. Plus sporadic firefights against Muslim fundamentalists & Mindanao secessionist groups. Combat-wise we are but 4th or 5th in the world behind the US, UK, Israel or Sri Lanka. What we lack though are modern war equipment & materiel. Like dud bullets, perhaps.
