motherboard pricing differ not just because of durability, "CHEAP" mother boards do not necessarily mean "Easily Broken"
Factors that affect Motherboard Price:
1)
Age = the age from the initial release of motherboards is considered when pricing
2)
Chipset = In a single release there are chipsets that are released at one time.. basically chipsets determine what your motherboard "Natively" supports.. (Natively means what it Naturally supports, that are not specially added by the manufacturer)
heres a link to 1155 chipsets (
LGA 1155 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ).. notice that low end chipsets do not have all the capabilities of the high end chipsets
3)
Brand = although quite useless IMO, brand names actually do affect price, known brands are usually priced higher than unknown brands
4)
Durability = here's a loosely used term. durability in the product is a special feature, when a motherboard is marketed as durable, then you can be sure that the PCB, the Capacitors and the components on that mobo is better than the others in the market of the same brand, just look at a standard H81 motherboard and visibly compare that to a ROG MAXIMUS VI EXTREME, it is very noticeable that the capacitors are larger, the heatsinks are thicker, and the PCB is a lot more sturdy
5)
Additional Features = Motherboard manufacturers sometimes add additional features to high end chipset motherboards. these may be added chips to handle more USB support, added LAN support, better DACs, recently there was an added feature to support full pledged 4 X 16x PCIE Slot. these added features are not NEEDED by the common user, and are only applicable to persons who do more to their machines.. I've been saved by additional features more than once..
- all in all if you want a durable and cheap Mobo. buy from a trusted brand, its a lot costly than unknown brands, but it will save you money on its durability, don't buy Chipsets your not going to need, dont buy additional features that you don't need. Don't be a Fanboy like me..
