1) Duality. Assassins Creed 3 is about Connor and HATHAM. What? For me, I feel like Ubisoft forced that Hatham story into our throats, they could have just said that Connor was a bastard child by Hatham and maybe we will enjoy the thrill and climax of the realization of knowing that Hatham, his father, is actually a Templar or an Assassin. (Yes, I can still remember that last memory sequence of Hatham saying, "You are a Templar. May the Father of Understanding guide us." THAT WAS EPIC AND MADE ME JUMP OFF MY FEET)
2) Environment. The game is beautiful, played it on my 360 and definitely enjoyed the sceneries. It's just I don't know why but all I can remember from the game scenery are trees, snow and jungles not Boston or New York (which they pretty much brag about). The new free running on trees was a great idea but that's all it is.
3) Story. The story is weak compared to the previous games, it didn't live up to AC2 Trilogy hype. I can't even remember a single thing about AC3 event or quest now, with Hatham's epic revelation as an exception. (thanks a lot AC2, you raised the bar too high for this game)
4) Era of History. This one, I think, is the major downside for me. I never liked the American Revolution era and I believe I'm on the majority. Washington rising to power, meh, it never did excite me and it didn't help that I don't know the so called "main characters", with Benjamin Franklin and George Washington being an exception.
Comparisons: Assassins and their games
vs Altair
• For me, Altair was the first and 'true' face of an Assassin, maybe because he was the first main character or he was born into the creed or that his name is badass, either way, in my opinion. First AC game sucked, very boring and repetitive (and Im talking X3 repetitive) but the final encounter or the climax of the story was thrilling. It's hard to top Altair if you're Connor, it's like replacing your first gaming console (the nostalgia!)
vs Ezio
• I'm 100% sure that everybody here in Istorya loves Ezio (or am I eggzoiggerating?) The era and place, made it all perfect. Italy on its Renaissance era, it's like watching a sunset with someone special. Assassins Creed 2 brought ALOT of changes to the Assassins Creed games and it's one of the reasons why Ezio is likeable, because they are able remember the quests and the events that happened on Ezio's life. The supporting characters are SUPERB. Apparently, it's the best of the series. No one can beat Da Vinci as a supproting actor, heck no! Ezio also have a Trilogy, it means that fans has a somewhat of a connection to Ezio's life, his sufferings and joyous moments (and assassinations). And for some reasons, battling against the church on that time period seems satisfying, oh God I'm going to hell for this.
vs Edward
• Edward has Ezio's charisma. He's like Ezio of the Carribean, in my opinion. Supporting characters are splendid, funny and intimidating. I honestly shed a tear when Stede Bonnet thanked me for helping him on some sort. Edward's life is also relate-able? and very unique from previous assassins, and that makes him more interesting. The game has alot of side quests and explorations to do like warehouse, naval battles for items, harpooning, underwater diving, legendary ship battles, and etc. The story is very well written and even tho I don't know any pirates except for Blackbeard, I can remember and differentiate anyone based on their language and mannerism. I haven't finish the story as of now but I'm already suggesting this game to EVERYBODY.
