Makes me wonder unsay nahitabo atong 5x86 sa akong papa nga pirmi nako kuri-kurion. Nawala man og kalit sa eksena. (Makes me realize nga AMD loyalty awardee na jud ko ani.)

^ nice ra ba ang 5x86... 486DX4-100 to Pentium 60/66 speed at a 486SX price... got a bunch of these CPUs from AMD, IBM and Cyrix... then ang 6x86 dayon ang ning sunod and do performance battle sa Pentium 100/166 napud...

sa akoang PC DIY history, ang the best thing that happen to my pocket is not on Intel and AMD... but its with Cyrix on their 5x86 CPUs... why, because of its "price to performance" ratio... gi latos nya ang equivalent Pentium during its day at a fraction of a cost. if i'm not mistaken, the CPU (w/ HSF) and mobo only cost 3.5K ~ 4K php in 1993... depending sa shops... kani if my memory serves me right... then compare sa Pentium na sa CPU pa lang, more than 10K man siguro to... then ang mobo kay tag 6K pud...
samot na akoang gibutangan ug add-in cache card (cost around 800 php) ang mobo sa 5x86, sipa kaayo on Win 3.11 performance... akoang mga amigo on Pentium 60 nag laway kay gamay ra ko'g na shell out compared nila ug mas pas2x akoang rig... mas pas2x pa gani sya sa Pentium sa CEAC sa USC-TC sauna... hehehe... i know this kay my cousin is a working student ug na assign did2 sa CEAC. ad2 ko did2 nila usahay. one thing na dili nila ma kit-an pud kay i had installed a 7200 rpm HDD during that time (given by my japanese friend)... samot ang performance sa Cyrix 5x86... hehehe... the year was in 1994 ~ 1995...

murag ma klaro gyud atong edad tungod sa hardware specs. Ako lang maingon kay grabe ka paspas ang improvements the past 2 decades... murag from sub 100Mhz, exponential ang growth sa Cpu... pero the way things are going murag ni slow down na tungod sa shift to portable devices.

hahahaha... mao gyud bro vipvip68... akoa gyud kay naka sugod ko'g PC XT (2 decades ago)... 6 MHz ra man siguro to... pero, akoang monitor kay gray scale... dili katong green na sakit kaayo's mata... then wla'y HDD... floppy ra gamit... dual 5.25" and single 3.5"... DOS then Word Star ang apps... then nag upgrade ko to Word Perfect kay mas better... hahaha...

kahinumdom lang ko atong write protect sa 5 1/4 nga floppy which literally involved attaching a sticker sa iyang side. bro, lloy_joy naka abot pa ka atong 8in nga floppy? Naa pa ko ato dri sa balay pero sa akong maguwang na to.
