However, all of them fail as it didn't reflect on what they put into their respective resumes. It was very frustrating to think that they put things this way even if they don't know what they are doing on this field of work. What's your input about these?
from a developer perspective:
some developer had experienced differently, some are bad in basics but quite good in advanced (ive meet a lot of this kind when i interview them).... some developers are skilled if they worked independently and not told what to use or how it should be done... needless to say this doesn't mean they dont know what they are doing...
how to spot a person who just pretend to know? let him do something independently with limited time... let say make him developed a chat in 1 hour... or create an web scrapper in 30 minutes... a skilled developer will know to do this in no time... but a person that is just pretending well... may take time...
also you need to remember as a programmer you are not required to memorize how the syntax is (google is your friend, a part from coding spend more time in research)... however you are required to fully understand how it should work and how you can use it...
to backed their claims... one should have a "LIVE" and "WORKING" portfolio to backed the claims and description as to what is his position and contribution to that porfolio...
like me... i can modify codeigniter to what ever i want even to the extent nga dili na siya CI, but if you asked me if i know how to install i the standard way... well i still have a lot to learn... the reason for this.. i adopted it, im an old school coder where i prefer to build everything from ground up... i can build a complete cms in less than a day... but im having hardtime install CI the usual way...
skills can be faked...
if we based our interviews on standards... daghan developer mahagbong... why? mas daghan ang nag self-study nga wala nag agi ug proper and standard training than people who are trained in schools...
question is.... pasado lagi ang skills pero quality ba ang coding? daghan raba ingon maayo pero inig tan-aw sa code nag kayamukat lang.... murag gikahig sa itik...
basta ako i keep coding like the old way ill just adopt what is needed... but not focus on it... the important thing is i the quality of the code... as greyhat on my other persona... dako kaayo kog smile if i see a code nga nagkayamukat...
one of the reason why i stop doing freelance... is i dont have freedom on my coding... its not about the money its about sending the message...
im proud to say that i am now an OpenSource developer both web and linux desktop... even if its free... im happy with it.. i got a day job to keep me going...
