Haha. There are actually moderate and extremist types of muslims, the same thing with christians and catholics.

Those muslims you see associated with terrorism et. al. are mostly related to wahhabi muslims, which are funded and trained by Saudi Arabia. Then you have moderate muslims in countries such as libya(before gaddafi was toppled), some gulf-states. If these states sponsor state terrorism they are most likely wahhabi and closely associated with Saudi Arabia.

Some of them can be considered isolated but it is more complex than that. Of course some would do those barbaric acts because they have to retaliate. Unfortunately they are being demonized but some muslims prefer to be civil and let their heads act first instead of their emotions.
