i mean, if national language is to promote unity, then why the he*k do we have to go through elementary, highschool and (damn) even college learning it? how about those who are uneducated and are not Tagalogs?? how will they learn? shouldn't be national language something that is innate? something that can be understood by a lot, with our without all the hassles of educatioN i mean, education is okay but geez, to have to go through all my years of studying with a filipino subject every sem.. arrgghh...
Being a tagalog, I've always thought that the national language should be tagalog because it was innate. however, having lived in cebu and learning about the visayan culture and its people, i now agree that bisaya should be the national language since, at least, 60% of the populace speak bisaya.

This is not a hate thread sa mga tagalog ha. it's just an observation.
This mockery may have come from the stereotypical "maids" that come from the visayas who work in luzon. i hope that someone will push that this mockery put to a stop, since this is a form of racism.

Even when i go back to manila, i now tell my friends to stop mocking the bisaya since both my children are bisaya by birth. i tell them that if they mock any bisaya it is as if they are mocking my children as well.

Let filipino(tagalog) be the national langauge, i could care less. being a cebuano, i always talk back in english to my tagalog friends. for some reason, i find filipino language so FAKE or its just me.

BTW how are the tagalog people who live in cebu viewed?

Bias man ta kay mga bisaysa man ta!!

I guess there should be a 3rd category on the poll, NEW LANGUAGE.
Coz if we are to choose between the 2, it is inevitable to create friction. A new language like for example a combination of the two or others would be great... but i don't know im not an expert in linguistics...

Ok some stuff i picked up since page 1:

about tagalog being a weak language cos of all the repitition.

The Japanese language has more. It's not weak, your teacher was just pro-bisaya.

NEW LANGUAGE - Isn't that what Filipino is? Talk in straight bisaya and it's still Filipino. Talk in straight tagalog and it's still Filipino. Talk in all dialects in one paragraph and the entire paragraph is still Filipino.

Tagalogs who think that way have been living under a rock. Well maybe not them but their minds sure are dim. Though, nowadays, I hear a lot of visayan words integrated by Tagalogs into their dialect. Correct me if I'm wrong please..but is nabubuang an original tagalog? Or hinayhinay lang? Again, I'm not sure but they sound like something that originated from VizMin.
this is the line --------- cross it. i dare you
