So the Catholic Church is lenient. They're trying to change with the times or adopt to the times. They're really slow, but they're trying.Originally Posted by chad_tukes

The dress code is imposed NOW, I believe, for the benefit of the coming Catholic generations as well.
Sigh. A house divided cannot stand. Sige brad, if you can't support your leaders, particularly your church leaders, why don't you just do something about it? Like change them is one idea. Or rather than air your views here in this forum, get yourself involved with a group and drive to challenge the Church in changing their anachronistic ways.Originally Posted by chad_tukes
If you can't be bothered to change and challenge your church leaders, then you could have the choice to change your church.
Well, we can agree that we disagree. All I am trying to point out if this is all about personal choices well the Roman Catholic Church has the choice to implement this dress code for their parishes because they "hold" (or perhaps a more apt word would be "own") the church buildings and chapels. If they want to impose the a sense of decorum on their attendees, so be it, it's their choice right?Originally Posted by chad_tukes
I'm going to use this analogy, it's like going to a sports club; there are rules and regulations that the club's members should follow. It's their choice to follow them or not, there would be consequences.
There we can agree. There should be no ambiguity.Originally Posted by chad_tukes
There it is. chad_tukes, brad, you're not really contesting against the dress code it's clear but you're just seeing this a minor issue raised by the RCC as compared to the huge problems that this Church has. It's like the dress code is a mere band aid on top a wide and deep stab wound on the body of integrity for the Church.Originally Posted by chad_tukes
The Philippine Roman Catholic Church does have a lot of internal problems that they would have to really focus on and deal with, but being so stuck in tradition for nearly 2000 years; they're not about to go radical... they should though, but it's not merely in the nature of this Church.
They're just handling their problems in a manner they feel is best for the Church. It doesn't necessarily mean they're doing it the right way; but hey, they're human too.
All in all, I feel that the Philippine Roman Catholic Church should embrace change and adapt to the times in a way that is a return to the early church of Christ before it was assimilated by the Roman empire. They are trying to change, changing, though it's somewhat painfully slow (much to the chagrin of some people), but they are changing.
I would like to say that criticizing and complaining against what the Church leaders are doing in order to maintain peace and order is counter-productive. There are problems and the Church needs solutions, so please if one is to complain then better suggest an alternative that works.
So if one cannot accept the merits of the Church dress code since it is against one's concept of freedom of choice, then please offer another alternative.
[color=navy]Challenging the code without offering a working alternative is really a waste of time and energy which could be better spent in serving God in other ways.
Either change your clothes, or change your church. That's all I am going to say about this topic.
