UPDATE: The presscon was successfully done this monday afternoon at the Parkmall. We have managed to reach out to more people to help raise awareness of the negative impact of the oil spill not just to marine life and health but also to the livelihood of the residents.

As of today, August 27, Cordova still needs volunteers to help in the clean-up and containment operations as reported by a local TV network. They already have enough materials to absorb the floating oil as well as protective gear for volunteers. You can go there anytime, though the Coast Guard said early in the morning is best to catch the low tide. Just proceed directly to the command center in Brgy Day-as.

In addition to the clean-up effort, the residents also desperately need food donations. The help given by the local government is insufficient and often not given on time to curb the hunger of affected fisherfolk and their families. We are those asking everyone to spread the word about this need, and urge your friends to donate food such as rice and canned goods as well as day-to-day needs like toiletries. Parkmall Cebu has opened a drop off center for donations at their playground area, you can deliver your donations there.

boss wala mn ko dha but ganahan ko mu tabang. naa lng koy na bantay based on experience. N95 mask and inyu cartridges murag dili pang oil. N95 is particulate lng. info lng para sad depensa sa health sa mga volunteers.

UPDATE: We have just talked to DSWD in Cordova regarding volunteers who wanted to help in the repacking of food relief. But they said as of now there is NOTHING to repack. They have already asked for additional relief goods form the local government but they have no idea when it will arrive.

We have also gotten in touch with Mega Sardines and they have already pledged to send in some canned goods. But this too could take a few days.

We humbly ask eveyrone to spread the word about donating some food stuff. There's a drop off point at Parkmall Cebu at their playground area or for those already in Mactan PM us so we could connect you with the local DSWD there.
