they developed tolerance to seeing dead bodies on the streets on a regular basis.
This leaves more questions than answers.
1) In what year did that happen? Remember FM had a kidney transplant and authorized Ver to replace him, and Ver was the known to use excessive force. Most of those dead were communist insurgents.
2) Which part of the country were those sites common?
3) What was the identity of the dead bodies? A PC killed by a sparrow unit? Or a sparrow unit killed by a PC. Or a communist. If you know Col. Palcuto personally(most people in mandaue know him) then you will know what I am talking about.
4) There was huge counter intelligence operative drive against the communists that was jointly undertaken by the US government through JUSMAG(Joint US military Assistance Group) and the philippine government. Remember during that time JUSMAG was still very active(not sure about now). Note also that the americans had a big presence in the country which was among the biggest airforce base and naval base outside of the US continent. This is enough reason for the communists(read:China) to step up their efforts to topple the Marcos regime.
pangga on gyud ni marcos ang pilipinas bro. laliman kag naka billion dollars ang bulsa niya unya dili pangga on? sayon ra pag pangga sa mga pilipino... tagaan rag makaon aw makig patay na ang mga pilipino para niya. investment man na cya. gasto og gamay tru food then kita og dako sa kurakot. if gi tarong pa to ni marcos og invest ang $28B nga iyang gi utang, basig siguro mas advanced pa ta sa singapore karon. sa tanan nga mga projects na gi himo ni marcos kay murag less than 1/4 ra na sa $28B nga iyang gi utang
1) In what year did that happen? prior to 1986, until early 90's
2) Which part of the country were those sites common? we lived in a rural area within W. Visayas
3) What was the identity of the dead bodies? most were unknown, unclaimed by families. most of them were buried in unmarked graves in the municipal cemetery.
Wether or not perpetuated by the military or by the communist or by whoever, the Marcos era in our place saw a great deal of violence. I can remember the army detachment in front of our house, there was a curfew at 7:00 PM, and armed patrol every morning -- but my family was happy kay na minimize ang kawat sa farm. And yes, my mother was happy kay daghan daw benefits gihatag c macoy sa mga teachers.
It was a good thing that they moved out when I was in Grade 3 (1995). I have not seen violence myself but adults tell stories of what they saw and heard. But mao sd lage... kulba kulba ang mga taw kay violence can happen anytime.
Lahi lahi tag experience. Kamo diri sa city kay "sheltered" kaayo mo. I can hear praises of Marcos, but its unfair to those who suffered under the watch of the military and the ever-possible threat of NPA invasion any time.
Action was taking place where the media was not around.
Adto mo sa bukid ug ask ordinary people.

Diha na nagsugod ang pgpangawat aning mga kongresista og senador.... haha

US set 5 conditions to save Marcos | Inquirer News
Politicians nowadays are so daring in plundering the resource of the nation.
I think it's because of expenditures due to massive vote buying and fraud making them spend more.
In the need that they have to earn to compensate what they spend, there's no other provision but to resort towards corrupt
practices divesting Filipino peoples monetary means to upgrade the nation. Marcos did the same before and I think emulated by the presently incumbent crook politicians.
The Philippines Under Ferdinand Marcos RegimeOn February 7, 1986, election day, about 20 million registered voters cast their votes in som 86,000 election precincts throughout the country. It was the most historic in the history of the 3rd republic. It was reported to be the "most controversial and confusing election" ever held in the Philippines, the "most internationally publicized election", and the "most fraudulent election" in the Philippine history.
Marcos resorted to massive vote buying to ensure his victory. KBL leaders in many areas used armed goons to terrorize the voters. There were instances of ballot box snatching. Flying voters were used. Election returns were falsified or altered.
So widespread was the cheating that the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in a statement issued a week after election, strongly condemned the conduct of the election. The CBCP described the election as "unparalleled in its fraudulence".
The Batasang Pambansa convened itself to make an official canvass of the election returns and to proclaim the winners. Based on the certificates of the canvass submitted to it by the Comelec registrars of 143 provinces, cities, and election districts, the Batasan on Feb. 15, 1986 proclaimed Ferdinand Marcos and Arturo Tolentino as the duly elected president and vice-president , respectively. The official Batasan tabulation showed that Marcos obtained 10,807,197 votes as against Aquino's 9,291,715 votes.
The Batasang Pambansa, which was controlled by the KNL, went on with the canvassing amidst the objections of the opposition members. The opposition MPs pointed out that there were irregularities in most of the certificates of canvass.
The fraudulent election Feb. 7, 1986 destroyed the image of President Marcos and his government abroad. Based on the reports of foreign newsmen and on what they saw on television, many people in the Philippines and abroad felt that Marcos was not the legitimated President of the Philippines. They believed that it was Corazon Aquino who won the presidency. As a result, except for the Soviet Union, not one foreign country congratulated Marcos.
