    ^ no bro, its not... my mini-ITX rig used a G840 w/ 8GB system ram and a GTX 650 2GB vram can play the following heavy games @ 1080p: BF3 on on Ultra presets, Crysis 3 on low-mid presets and Far Cry 3 on high presets... all played on multi-player online (max players)... AA is "Off" though... dili max out ang setting kay tungod, entry level ang GPU... before, i tested the G840 w/ single and dual GTX 660 Ti... ok kaayo ang fps sa anang tulo na game na akoang gi mention... wla lang ko maka sulay ug Metro kay wla ko ani n game... all the other games that i have here are lighter compared anang tulo...

    the G840 is very playable... for Crysis 3, akoa lang gi lower down ang resolution to 1366 x 768 para mas taas ang fps... the same sa BF3, akoang gi set to "Auto" preset pero @ 1080p ra gihapon ang resolution para mas taas ang fps sa game. so, where did you based your comment? internet only? have you tried to use the SB/IB Pentiums in gaming w/ a discrete GPU? i'm even tempted to use my G530 (currently installed on my general use PC) pud sa newly built m-ATX rig nako para testing lang. para naa ta'y personal experience na dili lang kutob sa basa sa internet. kun wla man gud pud ta'y HW na available for testing, aw, basa ra man gyud ang mahimo nato. the same ra gyud tang tanan ani. if naa, aw, mas nice na suwayan para ma share pud ang atoang actual experience... GPU diay sa m-ATX rig kay HD 7770 man. para pud maka test ko ani nya. gabi-i ra pud ni na install sa rig... current naka taod na GPU sa m-ATX rig (gabi-i lang) kay ang G840. akoang gi ibot from the mini-ITX rig...

    if we'll read the internet... for sure, we'll get plenty of "bottleneck" comments... in reality, its very playable at a certain GFX quality though since the game would greatly depend on the GPU... another example... on my main gaming rig diri... used an i3-2120 w/ GTX 670 sli (before it's on GTX 660 Ti sli)... kana tanan games na akoang gi mention, multiplayer (online @ max players) ko mag duwa... sa net, comment sa i3 on BF3 in 64 players max kay mo kamang... kun tan-awon sa monitoring software, puno kaayo ang cores... pero, ang fps in actual game play, kumbate ra gyud kaayo... mas smoother lang gyud if mag i5 or i7... but cost wise, pwerteng mahala anang duha...

    check the passmark sa IB Celeron G1610 (2.6 GHz)... it has a score of 2,586... now, compare to the SB Pentium G840 (2.8 GHz) w/c has a passmark score of only 2,555... in games, no idea ko sa fps performance nila... wla ko anang G1610 man pud... compare nato ni sila sa passmark sa AMD Athlon X4 740 na 3,983... mas dako kay quad core man ni'ng sa AMD... sa actual games using the same discrete GPU, makita nato ang performance difference ana nila during benchmark only. actual game play, we can't distinguish the difference granting, the same discrete GPU is used... or basin, naa'y mga hanep na game na mamili gyud ug quad core... like Skyrim and Crysis 3 but again, sa akoang actual experience in playing Crysis 3, very playable ra sya on a dual core CPU...

    @lloyd

    playable and bottleneck are two different things, maskin bottleneck ang cpu sa gpu doesn't mean it's not always playable. It can be playable but you're not getting the most out of your card. And with that statement greatly considering the 60fps thing.

    ^ you're right bro, playable and bottleneck are 2 different things... if we are into the 60 fps thing on heavy GFX game, then its not meant for any mid level GPUs... that is meant for the "top tier/ flagship" GPU... and for the tier 1 & 2 CPU... now, does all of us here ready to burn the needed cash for the HW?

    maong, mas better na choose the right HW for the intended application gyud... sa akoang case, contented pa ko sa i3 nko on the dual GPUs... i know that i'm holding the power of the pair to be unleashed pero, right now, i still can not convince myself to burn 10k php for the i5-3570K even got the budget (original plan is the i7-3770K but for a pure gaming rig, pareho lang sila performance. kun naa man gani, gamay ra kaayo. sa presyo, 5K php difference nila. naa pa'y mapalit lain for the 5K)... taas ang fps sa akoang games na gipang duwa on the current HW sa main gaming rig... even ang min fps nila, above sa 40 fps (w/ FRAPS running capturing the benchmark values)... my eyes and mind can not even distinguish what part in the game na nag 40 fps sya... maong hata2x mode ko gihapon until karon... naa man gyud ko'y isa ka rig diri (ang mini-ITX) na need ug CPU... ah, huwat ko ug lain CPU sale lang sa...

    the 60 fps thing nga ako pasabot actually kay ang usual argument went it comes to bottleneck discussions like this na human eye cannot perceive above 60fps so if the card does perform well paired with a faster cpu useless gihapon.

    now, does all of us here ready to burn the needed cash for the HW?
    of course not, dapat I suit nato sa needs sa user pero dapat balanced pud. Now suggesting an ib/sb pentium then birada nalang sa card, ako mahuna-hunaan on spot ana, palit ko pentium tapos paresan nalang nako titan or mag dual gpu ko.

    given mana bro if maka palit ug Titan, paresan na'g top tier GPU from intel or AMD... dili man intawon newbie ang mo palit ug Titan then paresan lang ug Celeron/Pentium/i3/APU/Athlon/Sempron & lower FX CPUs dba?

    if Pentium, i3 or AMD's equivalent ang paliton for a gaming rig, paresan ra gyud na ug mid level GPU... why kay ang mo palit sa ani na CPU class kay "budget constraint" man... if dili budget constraint, aw, tua sa tier 1 & 2 CPU mamili ug mag shopping...

    personally, mao man gyud ning plan nko for my gaming rig pud... budget rig lang unta pero, sugod man ug kayabag ug duwa'g GFX heavy games, aw, need gyud ko na mo gasto sa HW... ang CPU lang gyud ang naka hold back nko ron kay lagi, contented pako nya sa current games... don't know when BF4 comes. basin, maka kita nko ug reason to buy the "K" CPU...

    sa kani na statement... "if the card does perform well paired with a faster cpu useless gihapon"... true ni sya... in the point if you are just getting benchmark numbers... but on actual game play, if dili ta maka bantay sa running fps, walay reason mag gasto ug dako... akoa diri bro kay ang practicality and usability of the HW in actual gaming experience ... dili the "best of the best" on benchmark numbers... kani sya, nindot ni pang post sa net sa benchmark numbers or, apil ta'g fastest rig competition kay benchmark number ra man gihapon ang basihan ani...

    but again, dapat gyud i-pair ang HW para magamit ang atoang gibayaran nila... dili ma usikan lang... kay kun mag usik2x... mas better pa na atoang ihatag ang money sa charity... maka tabang pa ta... hehehe...

    nice man ning discussion gyud nato diri bro basta naa lang unod pud ang mga argument... hehehe... daghan ta makat-unan... the more we share, the more we'll learn... just like in teaching... the more we teach, the more we learn... charing... daghan pud makuha ang mag basa...

    nice nang break down nmo bro on the CPU/GPU pairing...

    ug ako lang sa g pa hold sa GPU part.

    ok raba ang hyper X blue nga memz? or deritso nalang nako sa Gskill ripjaws? 2x4gb 1600
