Its really sad to see people think this way about homosexuals, to think at this day and age where people are more educated and informed, there are still those who still insist that because a person loves someone of the same gender, they have to be denied of the rights that they believe they should have. It bothers me too that people are supportive of Russia, who reminds me of the crackdown of the non-Aryan people during the Holocaust. It bothers me that people call out the torture of these individuals who just want to live their lives with their partners in peace. People say this will defile the sanctity of marriage. What's there to defile when heterosexual couples have done that enough? Adultery is there. Men with a lot of mistresses are respected, people forget the commitments they made during the ceremony itself in front of their husband/wife, the people invited and most of all God? Its not even the minority, its the majority of couples these days.

Bestiality? Can an animal make a sound decision to marry? No. How about pedophilia? A kid can make decisions, but not the way adults do. Incest? Aren't we supposed to be brothers and sisters born from the same man and woman? Plus children born from the same bloodline usually are insane or have something wrong with them, thus the reason why it is not recommended. Whereas the thing with homosexuality is that people of the same gender are attracted to one another. Two consenting adults are there to make the decision to marry, no one is forcing them, it is of their own will. If homosexuals were not of sound mind, we wouldn't see successful people who are openly gay. Just because their *** life bothers you, it does not force you to do the same does it? If you don't want to have a homosexual relationship then of course you are free to do so. A lot of people have weird sexual fantasies, there are those who like BDSM, have a foot fetish, etc. But then that is a private matter, we do not delve into your *** lives unless you openly discussed it somewhere or if it really hurt someone.

And why does it have to be that people who are homosexuals automatically wish that they were born as the opposite ***? It doesn't mean that because someone is gay or lesbian or those who even cross dress want to become a man or a woman. A gay man accepts that he is a man, but just loves someone of the same gender and vice versa. There are those who want to undergo a *** change, yes, but like heterosexuals, homosexuals are different individuals too, its because they were born human, as are heteros.

And those who believe that it is against the Church or their beliefs? Isn't hating another person against your belief? Isn't asking someone to be killed or tortured, to be hanged just because of their choice against it? Its even in the 10 Commandments, I don't need to post a verse because its there. And there are those who are afraid of gay men coming on to them, and some straight guys like to do that a lot to women like for example, whistling at them. If you don't like that attention so do most women.

So far the only bad thing I can really think of is a homophobic or a conservative individual having an aneurysm because of this. If it so disgusts you, you're not forced to watch them in bed, nor are you forced to delve into a homosexual relationship. What they just need is for you to acknowledge that they are people too and just want to be accepted. I mean come on, if it was a choice to be homosexual, ngano gud mangitag lisod nga naa mai sayon? We need empathy, not hate. So stop the hate, and think, because the words you are choosing are as sharp as a blade.

Why call out Russia? Majority of the people there do not condone homosexuality. They are firm about it and are fiercely nationalistic about their identity as Russians which includes the fact that homosexuality has no place in their society.

Russia has gone through a lot like the gulags, their experience in the hands of the Germans in WWII, the massive privatization of government assets after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. They even had a worse experience compared to us such that the ratio between men and women in Russia has declined and most of them are not reliable partners due to the difficulty of the economy. The trend now is that Russian women are looking for men from other races.

These people are nationalistic because they adhere to the fact they have racial history and are proud of it. America, on the other hand was founded by immigrants and it is no surprise it is a melting pot of people and races. What is weird about it is that America imposes on other states policies that are not of their business at all and we have seen this pattern repeat itself again and again. Also, look at America, among the superpowers they are the only country that have not yet been invaded/intruded into by a foreign belligerent nation so you can actually see how pompous they can sometimes get in pushing their agenda.

Why shouldn't I call out Russia? For whatever reason they have, be it that they are fiercely nationalistic to their own state problems with an unreliable economy, it does not mean they have the right to torture, kill, shame and humiliate people who just want basic rights for themselves as well. If you look at the rallies that they have and how brutal people are to them, I would never ever defend a country who does that to their own people.

And they suffered under the Germans? What? They were allies in the first place, they were also one of the reasons Germany was winning the war and were as as worse or even worse than them when it came to punishing people during WWII. They only suffered under their hands when Germany decided to finally take off their mask and attack them, a stupid move as they started a two-front war.

I am not a huge fan of America, and they are indeed not a perfect nation and they can be arrogant people. However, fact is they are the ones who also are not afraid to voice out the rights of others, which other nations fail to do. No nation is perfect, however, it is the responsibility of ones country to not hurt their own people in such as a way as Russians have. Same as those in Iraq, in Africa or ANY other country.

Because America is making a big deal out of Russia being a 'repressive' state that does not honor gay rights. This is an agenda from the west and Russia knows it. Russia has strong family ties while the US does not, and Russia intends to keep it that way. Please, it is actually much more complicated when considering your 'feelings' or rights when it comes to pushing for recognition in a culture that is totally different from where you are coming from and not all countries are like america.

Also, you are now brainwashed by America and you insist that Russia follow suit when majority of the people living there do not want to have anything to do with homosexuality. You can complain all you want until then you won't have the status quo on your side. It will take a long time for something 'formidable' to uphold your 'rights' until then if I were you I would go somewhere else where you are welcome. Go to america where you can find lots of social democrats like obama and neoliberals who are now sucking up china's toes because of their stupidity hahahahaha.

I would make a big deal out of any repressive state, whether its Russia or not, whether its being influenced by America or not. It does not matter if Russia has strong family ties, hate is infectious. If people fan the flames of hate, it can be deadly. It was the same during the time where blacks were being discriminated against, or the Jews, or any type of race or culture. What you fail to see is the bigger picture. Its not just about "feelings" as you so put it lightly, it is also about our rights as human beings.

Yes not all countries are like America. In fact, it was not America who set the precedent of having gay marriage legalized. People are just making a lot of noise about just because its 'Murica. In fact many European nations have already legalized it, and so far I don't see their economy sliding down or people begging to have it put down because the difference in culture has affected their way of life. In fact, those nations are thriving!

And now you are saying I am being brainwashed by America just because I see something wrong with people being killed for their rights? LOL.

I would stand by you if your own rights were violated as a human being. Sure, you speak like someone who has gone through the Five Golden Rays, I have too if you know what the heck I am talking about. So don't talk to me as if you know me, as if you know what's going through my head. As if you know the pain that these people have gone through to stand up for what they believe in. In fact these people are more courageous than you can ever possibly be.

Hate? No, no hate at all. I am talking about America because america is the most vocal of them all and Obama chooses to bring his pro-gay advocacy to other nations such as africa. Why can't he just go there and make a pledge for investments? Why can't he just leave their societies alone? China invests in africa but they don't mess with their politics. That is the point I am trying to say. People think gay-rights only have a social effect, but no they also have a political affect. With such a movement spearheaded by America they can create NGOs that caters to the gay community and use those NGOs as fronts to undermine the social and political landscape of whatever country they set their eyes into. And I don't want none of your stupid rant of who you are because I could care less about that and besides I am predisposed to better sources of info. Say what you want, nothing will come out of it.

Why are we talking about America when in fact the topic I wanted to go through was that I did not want people's rights violated? And I don't see anything wrong with bringing one's advocacy to another country, if it helps people become more aware of it, especially if another nation may need that. Other countries are doing that as well, but not as vocal as America. The reason I was talking about hate was because you were defending Russia's policies where it was geared more toward hate. You may not hate homosexuals, however their law states otherwise which I find offensive.

If you feel that my rant was stupid because of what I thought and who I am and if nothing will really come out of what I am saying to you then there is really no need for us to speak. You are firmly set in the belief that America is using this as a tool to take over a nation such as Africa, when in fact the focus for me was not just America but a bigger whole. I would still say the same thing if let's say the topic was about England as the country doing this instead of America and seeing the bigoted responses flowing in the forums.

What Obama said in asked in Africa is that governments should decriminalize homosexual acts, which is a crime in a majority of African countries. IMHO, what goes on in the bedroom is not the business of the government. Declaring homosexuality as immoral is akin to imposing religious views on others. What if that citizen does not hold the religious views as some people have? Will they also be dragged in by the morality police for this?

China invests in countries in Africa that most of the Western nations shun, because of controversies such as human rights. In exchange for looking the other way while governments massacre its own citizens, China gets to secure mineral resources for its growing economy.

Which is more immoral for you? Having gays some sort of human rights or the massacre of people just because they are of a different tribe or religious sect?

Because the title of this thread talks about a state in AMERICA legalizing gay marriage. Not all people believe in what you believe, the same way not all countries may agree with what america has to bring. They have deep beliefs in the sanctity of marriage and family, and things like this proliferating in their backyard is enough to get those people killed.

Sure you may claim that any other european country can legalize gay marriage but unlike america they are much tolerant and will not push their agenda without being so violent about it.

Here is a quote from Zbigniew Brzezinski, author of the classic The Grand Chessboard(a important book that reveals america's foreign policies and to note some of what he has said has already come true). Published September 17, 1998

When he refers to Eurasia he actually is talking about Russia and Russia is just merely defending itself.

"How America 'manages' Eurasia is critical. A power that dominates Eurasia would control two of the world's three most advanced and economically productive regions.A mere glance at the map also suggests that control over Eurasia would almost automatically entail Africa's subordination, rendering the Western Hemisphere and Oceania geopolitically peripheral to the world's central continent. About 75 per cent of the world's people live in Eurasia, and most of the world's physical wealth is there as well, both in its enterprises and underneath its soil. Eurasia accounts for about three-fourths of the world's known energy resources." (p.31)

And he talks about a society which is actually shaped by the opinions of an elite shaped by technology which in this case is social media. And pro-gay rights are not an exception:

“Another threat, less overt but no less basic, confronts liberal democracy. More directly linked to the impact of technology, it involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled and directed society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite whose claim to political power would rest on allegedly superior scientific knowhow. Unhindered by the restraints of traditional liberal values, this elite would not hesitate to achieve its political ends by using the latest modern techniques for influencing public behavior and keeping society under close surveillance and control. Under such circumstances, the scientific and technological momentum of the country would not be reversed but would actually feed on the situation it exploits.

Persisting social crisis, the emergence of a charismatic personality(obama??), and the exploitation of mass media to obtain public confidence would be the steppingstones in the piecemeal transformation of the United States into a highly controlled society.”

What I quoted speaks for itself, no need to explain further.

Read my earlier post. And it is not any countries right to interfere in how they run their governments. Please look at the track record of america, they said Iraq was harboring WMDs, libya was financing terrorists, etc. but in the end it was all about their interests.

I am reacting to your post that "Obama chooses to bring his pro-gay advocacy to other nations such as africa." As I said, Obama just asked African nations to decriminalize homosexuality. What is wrong with that? Being jailed and beaten up because you are gay is just plain immoral.

IMHO, it is not right for a country to look another way if a crime is being committed on a massive scale. The U.S. has the moral obligation to stop atrocities from being committed being in the position to do so. Sadly, after the debacle in Mogadishu, the U.S. did not step to stop in the quagmire in Rwanda because the public would not support it.

It clearly made a mistake in Iraq but it was the religious conservatives in the Bush administration's fault. But everybody knows that Libya used to sponsor the MNLF and numerous other organizations, when they were still engaged in terrorism.
