In S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow Of chernobyl video card geForce 8600 GT is more preferable than Radeon x1950 GT, but defence is small. Furthermore, as test showed, we are able to play this game correctly only with incomplete dynamic illumination in 1024 X 768 resolution .

Conclusion

It is clear that new video card are faster than predecessor. On average in all benchmarks and games the advantage Of geForce 8600 GT over the 7600 GT is 34- 36%, minimum is equal to 4%, and maximum 73%. Furthermore, GeForce 8600 GT possesses higher frequency potential.

Now as comparison of today competitor video card GeForce 8600 GT and radeon x1950 GT. AMD did not present products of average and low price range using API directX 10 ; therefore as comparison we can use top ATI products from the previous generation, in this case we talk about Radeon x1950 GT. This last card with similar cost has a good advantage over nvidia 8600GT in games such as Serious sam 2, Quake 4, F.E.A.R ; Prey, and also Company Of heroes. GeForce 8600 GT is somehow faster in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of chernobyl and noticeably faster in The elder scrolls IV: Oblivion.

Besides these two games GeForce 8600 GT have advantage in the form of higher overclock potential and smaller energy consumption , and also in our view a simple PCB. Well do not forget also about DirectX 10 support . So for those who look for new video card updating from a 7600GT or lower can for sure go with 8600GT but those who already have a radeon x1950 GT, there is no sense to get the card. I would propose to wait for ATI video card in this segment and then u can make a final conclusions. At present there is no need to hurry with purchase Of directX 10 graphic card . For sure i am not talking about 8800GTS or 8800 GTX from high end class.

X1950GT is a disappointment IMO. Despite the naming convention.. it is actually slower than X1900GT and X1950Pro but runs cooler because of the die shrink..... 80nm from 90nm sa X1900GT and X1950pro

I'm using X1900GT rev.2 w/c is based on the R580 GPU while the X1950GT uses RV570. The card is clocked at 513 / 657 (default) but can OC to 570/800.



I was expecting the 8600GT to perform on par with 7900GS.... and the 8600GTS to surpass 7900GT, 7950GT and be on par with X1950XT.
If this had been the performance level for this type of card, more people would buy it. Instead, they are shelling out extra for the 8800 or spending the same amount on a faster DX9 card.
In my case, I bought a cheaper DX9 card with OC potential.


Try comparing the 8600GT to 7900GS, X1950Pro, X1900GT

unsa man to ingon darkwing par sa 7600gt so karon tuo na jud ta tanan na gi lubong na ang 7600gt sa 8600gt, kini na review mauy muhatag ug katin awan bahin sa performance sa 8600gt...for me bro Palit lang jud na brand hehehe....kana nuon bro on par with 7900gs...kuntinto nako ana.

pero bro dili lang jud nako ma convince ako self to buy 14 to 15 k vcard and less than a year mo drop ug mahimo nalang dayun among others..huh sayangan ko.

bro if mag dx10 naka bro question lang, ATI 29xx ka or Nvidia 88xxseries? and probably when?

I agree... kung Dx10 ang imong gusto... its a choice between the 8600GT and the 8800GTS 320. Bati ang price performance sa 8600GTS because duol na siya sa price sa 8800. (13k in manila pero here in Cebu 15k pa)

I myself decided not to buy 8600GTS because of the price / performance. 8800GTS was out of reach sa budget and sakto ka.. prices of it will be going down.... so I just settle for something cheaper nga maka play sa games karon.


With regards to w/c DX10 card I will buy... If Karon ko mu palit then 8800 series because cheap ang 8800GTS compared to the 29xx. Pero so far it's difficult to say w/c one is the better deal kay wala pa kaayoy game benchmarks available and wala pay benchmarks sa X2600 series sa Ati.

If I wanted a DX10 card, a good time to buy would probably be nearing December. By then all the Dx10 games should be out and daghan na ug choices sa videocards.

Bitaw bro December will be the right time to buy, but in my case bro 6600 man gud ako gamit order unta ko 7600gt pero wala na stock kai dri man ko sa XCOMP tig kuha so ang gi offer ni Richard nako ang 8600gt, 6,800 ra ug ako pa jud gi utang hehehe, anyway bayad nako sa half hehe. ako bro yearly man jud ko mag ilis so by June next year basin 9 mid series napod ko kung naa hehehe.
